Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam (; born 18 July 1975), known professionally as M.I.A. (; an initialism for both "Missing in Action" and "Missing in Acton, London, Acton"), is a British rapper, record producer, songwriter and singer. Her music combines elements of alternative music, alternative, electronic dance, dance, Electronic music, electronic, Hip hop music, hip hop and world music with electronic instruments and Sampling (music), samples.
