In film, television, and theatre, typecasting is the process by which a particular actor becomes strongly identified with a specific character, one or more particular roles, or characters having the same traits or coming from the same social or ethnic groups. An actor or actress is a person who portrays a character in a performance. Jonathan Frakes
Jonathan Scott Frakes (born August 19, 1952) is an American actor and director. He is best known for his portrayal of Commander William Riker in the television series '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'' and subsequent films and series. Frakes also hosted the anthology series '' Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction'', and was the voice for David Xanatos in the Disney television series '' Gargoyles''.
