The Living End
The Living End are an Australian punk rockabilly band from Melbourne, formed in 1994. Since 2002, the line-up consists of Chris Cheney (vocals, guitar), Scott Owen (double bass, vocals), and Andy Strachan (drums). The band rose to fame in 1997 after the release of their EP '' Second Solution / Prisoner of Society'', which peaked at No. 4 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart. They have released eight studio albums, two of which reached the No. 1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart: '' The Living End'' (October 1998) and ''State of Emergency'' (February 2006). They have also achieved chart success in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Chris Cheney
Christopher John Cheney (born 2 January 1975) is an Australian rock musician, record producer, and studio owner. He is the founding mainstay guitarist, songwriter, and lead vocalist of the rockabilly band The Living End, which was formed in 1994 with schoolmate Scott Owen. Cheney wrote the group's top 20 hits on the ARIA Singles Chart: "Second Solution" / "Prisoner of Society" (1997), "All Torn Down" (1999), " Pictures in the Mirror" (2000), " Roll On" (2001), " One Said to the Other" (2003), "What's on Your Radio" (2005), " Wake Up" (2006), and "White Noise" (2008). In 2004, Cheney joined the supergroup The Wrights which put out a cover version of Stevie Wright's epic 11-minute track, " Evie" as a single. At the 2009 APRA Music Awards, Cheney won Song of the Year for writing The Living End's track, "White Noise". The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating
''The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating'' is the sixth studio album by Australian punk rock band The Living End, released on 22 July 2011 via Dew Process. The album was produced by Nick DiDia. In 2011, it won the award for the ''Best Rock Album'' at the Australian ARIA Awards. Composition and recording In early 2010, Chris Cheney went to New York for three months to begin writing songs for the album. While in New York, he met up with The Hold Steady singer Craig Finn, whom he met through John Agnello who had produced the band's previous album, ''White Noise''. With Finn, he cowrote the song "The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating". Cheney said that for the new album he "wanted to meet different people and gather some fresh resources and influences to hopefully take my writing and add a different element". White Noise (The Living End Album)
''White Noise'' is the fifth studio album by Australian punk rock band The Living End, first released in Australia on 19 July 2008. It was the band's first album released on the record label Dew Process. A limited edition bonus DVD, recorded at ACDC Lane in Melbourne, was also released, featuring six live songs, four of which were songs from ''White Noise''. The album debuted at number two on the Australian Album Chart, achieving a Gold certification in its first week. It was nominated for ''Best Rock Album'' & ''Album of the Year'' at the 2008 ARIA Awards, winning the award for Best Rock Album 2008. The 13th Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 12 October 1999 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Hosted by Paul McDermott and Bob Downe, and presenters, including Melanie C of the Spice Girls, Tina Cousins, Fiona Horne and Molly Meldrum, distributed 33 awards. ''State of Emergency'' is the fourth studio album by Australian punk rock band The Living End, released in Australia and New Zealand on 4 February 2006 and internationally on 11 July 2006. It debuted in the number one position of the Australian Australian Recording Industry Association, ARIA charts. The album's first single was "What's on Your Radio", released in November 2005. ''The Living End'' is the debut studio album of Australian punk rock band The Living End, released on 12 October 1998. It was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne with Lindsay Gravina producing for Modular Recordings. The cover art, as described by front man Chris Cheney, is based on a photograph of a World War I all-female bomb factory. The album reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and remained in the top 50 for 63 weeks. Second Solution / Prisoner Of Society
"Second Solution" / "Prisoner of Society" is the third EP by Australian rock band The Living End. It was the best selling Australian single of the 1990s, and spent a record-breaking 69 weeks on the ARIA Top 100 singles chart. N.B. The TI column displays the number of weeks the release has spent on the chart. It provided a breakthrough for the band, bringing them to the attention of the Australian rock scene. Boosted by the success of this EP, they subsequently went into the studio to record their debut full-length album, ''The Living End'', on which they re-recorded both of the title songs.
