''Zmanim'' ( he, זְמַנִּים, literally "times", singular ''zman'') are specific times of the day in Jewish law. *In Jewish law, a calendar day is defined as running from "evening" to "evening." This is based on the repetition of the phrase "... and there was evening, and there was morning ..."—evening preceding morning—in the account of creation in Genesis. *Additionally, Jewish law requires certain activities to be undertaken "during the day"—or at a certain time during the day—while other activities are to be undertaken "at night"—or at a certain time during the night. Tefillin
Tefillin (; Israeli Hebrew: / ; Ashkenazic pronunciation: ), or phylacteries, are a set of small black leather boxes with leather straps containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah. Tefillin are worn by adult Jews during weekday morning prayers. In Orthodox and traditional communities, they are worn solely by men, while some Reform and Conservative (Masorti) communities allow them to be worn by both men and women. The ''Amidah Amuhduh'' ( he, תפילת העמידה, ''Tefilat HaAmidah'', 'The Standing Prayer'), also called the ''Shemoneh Esreh'' ( 'eighteen'), is the central prayer of the Jewish liturgy. Hallel
Hallel ( he, הַלֵּל, "Praise") is a Jewish prayer, a verbatim recitation from Psalms which is recited by observant Jews on Jewish holidays as an act of praise and thanksgiving. Baruch Hashem L'Olam (Maariv)
''Baruch Adonai L'Olam'' is a prayer that is recited by some Jewish communities, during ''Maariv'' on weekdays immediately preceding the '' Amidah''. Hashkiveinu
Hashkiveinu is the second blessing following the Shema during Maariv. It is a petitionary prayer to be able to lie down in peace at night and to return to life the following day. Shabbat/Yom Tov version On weekdays, this prayer ends with the words ''Shomer Amo Yisrael L'Ad''. This is seen as appropriate for weekdays, when men go in and out in their weekday pursuits, and come in need of divine protection. On Shabbat and Yom Tov, a longer version of this blessing is recited.
