The sixteen-bar blues can be a variation on the standard twelve-bar blues or on the less common eight-bar blues. Sixteen-bar blues is also used commonly in ragtime music. Adaptation from twelve-bar progression Most sixteen bar blues are adapted from a standard twelve-bar progression. The standard twelve-bar blues progression is : where each cell in the table represents one measure (or "bar"), "I" represents the tonic chord, "IV" the subdominant chord, and "V" the dominant chord. Twelve-bar progressions are formed by applying one of several formulae, including the following. The 50s progression (also known as the " Heart and Soul" chords, the " Stand by Me" changes, the doo-wop progression and the "ice cream changes") is a chord progression and turnaround used in Western popular music. The 32-bar form, also known as the AABA song form, American popular song form and the ballad form, is a song structure commonly found in Tin Pan Alley songs and other American popular music, especially in the first half of the 20th century. The song form consists of four sections: an eight-bar A section; a second eight-bar A section (which may have slight changes from the first A section); an eight-bar B section, often with contrasting harmony or "feel"; and a final eight-bar A section. The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in the New York City neighborhood Forest Hills, Queens in 1974. "Let's Dance" is a 1962 hit single by Chris Montez, written and produced by Jim Lee. Original version The song was written by Jim Lee, who produced and released the song on his own Monogram Records. Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American jazz musician, bandleader, and composer. He started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd's group.
