hr-fernsehen is the regional television channel of Hessischer Rundfunk for the state of Hesse, Germany. Overview The channel focuses on regional reporting. In addition to the afternoon programme ''hallo hessen'' and the weeknightly tabloid magazine maintower as well as a compact late edition of the regional news, ''hessenschau kompakt'' (both Monday to Friday), the daily hessenschau at 7:30 p.m. has above all consolidated the channel as a permanent institution and the aforementioned programmes have the highest ratings. Other programmes include the regional political magazine ''defacto'', the panel shows ''strassenstars'' and ''Wer weiss es?'', the business and consumer magazine ''mex'' and the cultural magazine ''hauptsache kultur''. Currently the most successful format is the Sunday ''hessenQuiz'' with Jörg Bombach. Hessenschau
(; "Hesse Broadcasting"), shortened to HR (; stylized as hr), is the German state of Hesse's public broadcasting corporation. Headquartered in Frankfurt, it is a member of the national consortium of German public broadcasting corporations, ARD. Studios Dornbusch Broadcasting House, in Bertramstraße, Frankfurt am Main, is home to HR's principal radio and television studios. There are additional radio and television studios in Kassel and Wiesbaden, as well as further radio studios in Darmstadt, Fulda, and Gießen. HR also maintains offices in Berlin, Eltville, Erbach, Limburg an der Lahn, and Marburg. In 2000, HR opened studios on the 53rd floor of the Main Tower in Frankfurt city centre. The corporation is also responsible for the management of ARD's studios in Madrid and Prague. Finance Licensing fees are currently €17.50 per month. Maintower
''maintower'' is the tabloid magazine of the Hessischer Rundfunk broadcast on hr-fernsehen from Monday to Friday at 6:00 pm. The 25-minute programme covers tabloid topics with a focus on crime and accidents as well as other police and fire brigade missions in and around Hessen. Production Up until 2015 it was broadcast from the Main Tower in Frankfurt am Main (the "highest television studio in Europe"). Due to the studio's closure for cost reasons, in autumn 2015, the programme has been broadcast from Hessischer Rundfunk's television ''Studio 5'' in the Funkhaus am Dornbusch in Frankfurt-Nordend using an elaborate virtual studio set with a computer-generated 3D skyline of Frankfurt. ARD (broadcaster)
ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional Public broadcasting, public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services—in particular the introduction of a joint television network. ARD has a budget of €6.9 billion, 22,612 employees and is the largest public broadcaster network in the world. The budget comes primarily from a mandatory licence fee which every household, company and public institution, regardless of television ownership, is required by law to pay. For an ordinary household the fee is €18.36 per month, as of 2023. Households living on Welfare in Germany, welfare are exempt from the fee. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for Digitization, digitizing 625 lines, 625 line Analog television, analogue television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Ranking
A ranking is a relationship between a set of items, often recorded in a list, such that, for any two items, the first is either "ranked higher than", "ranked lower than", or "ranked equal to" the second.
