All-comers Track Meet
All comers track meets are usually small local events, considered the grassroots of the sport of track and field athletics. Organization of these meets can range from "professional" to almost disorganized. Some meets are so small that only a couple of people put the whole thing on. It's all based on the simple philosophy of the sport; it only takes two people to hold a race. The formal elements required are a place for the race to take place, and neutral officials to start and judge the finish of a race. Multiply that by dozens to hundreds of participants participating over the spectrum of track and field events and you have a meet. All comers track meets have been long standing traditions held in most major cities across the United States and Canada. Some series have a history going back over 50 years. Track And Field Athletics
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. The jumping and throwing events are won by those who achieve the greatest distance or height. Regular jumping events include long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault, while the most common throwing events are shot put, javelin, discus, and hammer. Shoreline is a city in King County, Washington, United States. It is located between the city limits of Seattle and the Snohomish County border, approximately north of Downtown Seattle.
