"Breadfan" is a song by Welsh Blues Rock Heavy metal music, heavy metal power trio Budgie (band), Budgie, appearing on their 1973 album ''Never Turn Your Back on a Friend''. The title of the song refers to a person's relationship to money, with "wikt:bread, bread" being a slang term for money. The lyrics further highlight the moral dilemmas on what to do with money; keep it, give it away, spend it and to be ultimately free of it and not to let it rule a life. The song is featured in the video game ''Brütal Legend'' and its introduction used in Brazilian television sports news programme ''Globo Esporte''. The original version had an initial 17 second excerpt of Winston Churchill's speech at the Mansion House, London on November 10, 1942, citing the words: "I have never promised anything but blood, toil, tears and sweat". Budgie (band)
Budgie were a Welsh heavy metal band from Cardiff. The band formed in 1967, and recorded a demo the following year. In 1971, their first album was blues-oriented hard rock and produced by Rodger Bain, released by MCA. Later records found Budgie gradually moving into a harder and more aggressive sound. The band, usually a classic power trio with the occasional keyboard player, released ten albums, with MCA, A&M, and RCA, between 1971 and 1982, attracting a fair number of fans and achieving modest commercial success. Budgie were one of the earliest heavy metal bands, and according to Garry Sharpe-Young they were a seminal influence on many acts of that scene,Sharpe-Young, Garry (2007), p. 30 particularly the new wave of British heavy metal, and later acts such as Metallica. ''The Old Grey Whistle Test'' (sometimes abbreviated to ''Whistle Test'' or ''OGWT'') is a British television music series broadcast by the BBC. It was devised by producer Rowan Ayers, commissioned by David Attenborough, and aired on BBC2 from 1971 to 1988. It took over the late-night slot from '' Disco 2'', which ran between September 1970 and July 1971, while continuing to feature non-chart music. "Whiskey in the Jar" ( Roud 533) is an Irish traditional song set in the southern mountains of Ireland, often with specific mention of counties Cork and Kerry. The song, about a rapparee (highwayman) who is betrayed by his wife or lover, is one of the most widely performed traditional Irish songs and has been recorded by numerous artists since the 1950s. The song first gained wide exposure when Irish folk band the Dubliners performed it internationally as a signature song and recorded it on three albums in the 1960s. In the U.S., the song was popularised by the Highwaymen, who recorded it on their 1962 album ''Encore''. Irish rock band Thin Lizzy hit the Irish and British pop charts with the song in 1973. The World Magnetic Tour was a 2008–2010 concert tour by American heavy metal band Metallica in support of the band's ninth studio album, ''Death Magnetic'', which was released on September 12, 2008.
