Zinaïda Mikolaïevna Aksentieva ( uk, Зінаїда Миколаївна Аксентьєва; July 25, 1900 – April 8, 1969) was a Ukrainian/Soviet astronomer and geophysicist. Life Aksentieva or Aksentyeva was born in Odessa in 1900. She graduated from Odessa Institute of Public Education in 1924. She worked on mapping gravity and her observatory was one of the first to be able to accurately find the centre of the earth. She worked in Poltava Observatory. She became observatory director in 1951. Her areas of study were tidal deformation of the earth and gravimeter Earth profiles. She has a crater on Venus that is named in her honour. The scientist was the first to organize a study of slope fluctuations at great depths in the mines of Kryvorizhye, Donbass, Carpathians, and the first in the USSR to observe tidal changes in gravity using a gravimeter. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. Zinaida Yevgenyevna Serebriakova (russian: Зинаида Евгеньевна Серебрякова; – 20 September 1967) was a Russian and later French painter. Family Zinaida Serebryakova was born on the estate of Neskuchnoye near Kharkov (now Kharkiv, Ukraine) into the artistic Benois family in the Russian Empire. Soviet partisans were members of resistance movements that fought a guerrilla war against Axis forces during World War II in the Soviet Union, the previously Soviet-occupied territories of interwar Poland in 1941–45 and eastern Finland. Zinaida Martynovna Portnova (russian: Зинаида Мартыновна Портнова; 20 February 1926 – 15 January 1944) was a Soviet teenager, partisan and posthumous Hero of the Soviet Union. Biography Portnova was born in Leningrad on 20 February 1926. She was the daughter of a working-class Belarusian family. Her father worked at the Kirov Plant. She was a seventh-grade student at the 385th school in Leningrad in 1941, when she left for her grandmother's house in the Vitebsk region. Not long afterwards, Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union.
