Zach Theatre
ZACH Theatre (the Zachary Scott Theatre Center) is a professional theatre company located in Austin, Texas, as well as its associated complex of theatre facilities. The company is the oldest continuously active theatre company in Texas, and one of the ten oldest in the country. Offerings and facilities The theatre operates year-round, serving more than 100,000 patrons annually, with more than 500 performances including plays, musicals, original works, and theatre for youth. ZACH also provides education programs that are utilized by thousands of children throughout central Texas. The theatre complex, located on the south shore of Lady Bird Lake, includes three stages, several event spaces, and numerous classrooms and offices. Steven Dietz (born June 23, 1958) is an American playwright, theatre director, and teacher. Called "the most ubiquitous American playwright whose name you may never have heard", Dietz has long been one of America's most prolific and widely produced playwrights. In 2019, Dietz was again named one of the 20 most-produced playwrights in America. Though several of his plays have been seen Off-Broadway (including "Fiction", "Lonely Planet", "God's Country"), the vast majority of Dietz's plays are produced in American regional theaters. Lynn Ahrens
Lynn Ahrens (born October 1, 1948) is an American writer and lyricist for the musical theatre, television and film. She has collaborated with Stephen Flaherty for many years. She won the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award for the Broadway musical ''Ragtime''. Together with Flaherty, she has written many musicals, including ''Lucky Stiff'', ''My Favorite Year'', ''Ragtime'', ''Seussical'', '' A Man of No Importance'', '' Dessa Rose'', ''The Glorious Ones'', ''Rocky'', '' Little Dancer'' and, recently on Broadway, '' Anastasia'' and ''Once on This Island''. Terrence McNally
Terrence McNally (November 3, 1938 – March 24, 2020) was an American playwright, librettist, and screenwriter. Described as "the bard of American theater" and "one of the greatest contemporary playwrights the theater world has yet produced," McNally was the recipient of five Tony Awards. He won the Tony Award for Best Play for ''Love! Valour! The Santaland Diaries
"Santaland Diaries" is an essay by David Sedaris. It is a humorous account of Sedaris' stint working as a Christmas elf in "Santaland" at Macy's department store. Sedaris first read the essay on National Public Radio's ''Morning Edition'' on December 23, 1992. The piece was well received, and provided Sedaris with his first major break. Sedaris later published the essay in the collections ''Barrel Fever'' (1994) and '' Holidays on Ice'' (1997). A much longer version of the piece first aired on December 20, 1996, on the Public Radio International program ''This American Life.'' In 1996, Joe Mantello adapted Sedaris' essay for the stage as a one-man, one-act play, which debuted (as ''The Santaland Diaries'') at the Atlantic Theater Company in New York City on November 7, 1996. Irving Berlin (born Israel Beilin; yi, ישראל ביילין; May 11, 1888 – September 22, 1989) was a Russian-American composer, songwriter and lyricist. David Ives (born July 11, 1950) is an American playwright, screenwriter, and novelist. He is perhaps best known for his comic one-act plays; ''The New York Times'' in 1997 referred to him as the "maestro of the short form".
