James David Zellerbach
James David Zellerbach (January 17, 1892 – August 3, 1963) was an American businessman and ambassador. Biography James David Zellerbach was born on January 17, 1892. He was raised in San Francisco, California. Zellerbach served as chairman of the board of the Crown Zellerbach Corporation. In 1957, Zellerbach was sworn in as United States Ambassador to Italy; he held the post until 1960. He was a member on the board of Wells Fargo Bank Council on Foreign Relations. Merla Zellerbach
Merla Zellerbach, née Myrle Carmel Burstein, was born in San Francisco in 1930, the daughter of Rabbi Elliot M. and Lottie Burstein. While attending Stanford University, she met and soon thereafter married Stephen Zellerbach. They had one child, son Gary. Her literary, civic and philanthropic work began at the time of her first marriage. By the time of her death on December 26, 2014, she authored 13 well reviewed novels and five self-help medical books, was a panelist for six years on the ABC TV show Oh My Word, and a columnist for the '' San Francisco Chronicle''. Subsequently, she was Editor of the '' Nob Hill Gazette'' for twelve years. Charities she supported and/or worked for included Compassion and Choices, the Coalition on Homelessness San Francisco, the Kidney Foundation, and a dozen more. Crown Zellerbach Building
One Bush Plaza also known as the Crown Zellerbach Building is an office building in the western United States in San Francisco, California. Located on Bush Street and Battery Street at Market Street in the Financial District, the 20-story, building was completed in 1959. History The building was originally the headquarters of the Crown Zellerbach, a Fortune 500 forest products conglomerate acquired by Sir James Goldsmith in a 1985 hostile takeover. The majority of the pulp and paper assets were sold to James River in 1986, which in turn became a part of Georgia-Pacific in 2000. (The brown paper container division became Gaylord Container). James River's headquarters were in Richmond, Virginia, and Gaylord's moved to suburban Chicago. The building was later the headquarters of Hambrecht & Quist. Zellerbach Hall
Zellerbach Hall is a multi-venue performance facility on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, west of Lower Sproul Plaza. It was designed by architect and professor Vernon DeMars and completed in 1968. The facility consists of two primary performance spaces: the 1,984-seat Zellerbach Auditorium, and the 500-seat Zellerbach Playhouse. Zellerbach Auditorium is the main performance venue for Cal Performances, a presenting and producing arts organization. The facility is suitable for dance, theater, and opera, and has a built-in concert shell that provides an excellent acoustical enclosure for symphonic and other classical music performances. The Playhouse is primarily used by the UC Berkeley Department of Theater and Dance. It features flexible seating sections to allow for different configurations of the seating and performance spaces.
