''Your Esso Reporter'' was an American syndicated radio news bulletin, sponsored by Standard Oil of New Jersey under the Esso brand. The five-minute program was aired since 1935 four times a day on radio stations in cities in the United States where Esso operated. The program also had a televised version, being aired on NBC in 1947 and on CBS from July to September 1951''.'' Broadcast syndication is the practice of leasing the right to broadcasting television shows and radio programs to multiple television stations and radio stations, without going through a broadcast network. It is common in the United States where broadcast programming is scheduled by television networks with local independent affiliates. Syndication is less widespread in the rest of the world, as most countries have centralized networks or television stations without local affiliates. Shows can be syndicated internationally, although this is less common.
