The York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB, known as English-language Separate District School Board No. 42 prior to 1999) is the English-language public-separate school district authority for the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada. Its head office is in Aurora. The YCDSB operates schools in each of the nine municipalities in York Region. It employs over 5,000 instructional staff to teach over 54,000 students in 85 elementary schools and 16 secondary schools. The school board until 1998 was originally known as the York Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board (YRRCSSB) as an anglophone/francophone school district. Aurora ( 2021 population: 62,057) is a town in central York Region in the Greater Toronto Area, within the Golden Horseshoe of Southern Ontario, Canada. Richmond Hill ( 2021 population: 202,022) is a city in south-central York Region, Ontario, Canada. Part of the Greater Toronto Area, it is the York Region's third most populous municipality and the 27th most populous municipality in Canada. Education in Ontario comprises public and private primary and secondary schools and post-secondary institutions. Publicly funded elementary and secondary schools are administered by the Ontario Ministry of Education, while colleges and universities are administered by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The Conseil scolaire Viamonde (CSV) is a public-secular French first language school board, and manages elementary and secondary schools in the Ontario Peninsula and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The school board operates 41 elementary schools and 15 secondary schools within that area. The school board operates two offices, one in Toronto, and one in Welland. The educational management office is located in the Maple Leaf neighbourhood of Toronto, whereas the business and financial management office is located in Welland. Our Lady Queen of the World Catholic Academy, previously known as Jean Vanier Catholic High School, is a high school in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada administered by the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB). It is a fragrance-free school. Opened in 2009, it currently serves the city of Richmond Hill. Name The school was previously known as Jean Vanier Catholic High School, but a proposal to rename it was presented to the YCDSB trustees in February 2020 and the resolution to do so passed at a board meeting on 20 May 2020. This was done as a result of allegations that the school's namesake Jean Vanier had engaged in "manipulative and emotionally abusive" sexual relationships with six women "in the context of spiritual accompaniment" between 1970 and 2005. The chosen name "Our Lady Queen of the World Catholic Academy" refers to Mary, mother of Jesus and is also the name of the church beside the school. Holy Cross Catholic Academy (or Holy Cross) is a Catholic high school. It was first established in September 1986 to serve western Woodbridge, a community in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. The school currently serves grades nine through twelve (ages 14 – 18). In 1990, the school celebrated its first graduating class. Archbishop Robert Clune blessed the building on May 2, 1990. Woodbridge is a very large suburban community in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, along the city's border with Toronto. It occupies the city's entire southwest quadrant, west of Highway 400, east of Highway 50, north of Steeles Avenue, and generally south of Major Mackenzie Drive. It was once an independent town before being amalgamated with nearby communities to form the city in 1971.
