Yateley
Yateley () is a town and civil parish in the English county of Hampshire. It lies in the north-eastern corner of Hart District Council area. It includes the settlements of Frogmore and Darby Green to the east. It had a population of 21,011 at the 2001 census. The four wards that comprise Yateley and their 2001 populations are Yateley East (5,168), Yateley North (5,078), Yateley West (5,149), and Frogmore & Darby Green (5,616). The 2009 projection was 20,214, according to the Hart District Council website. Yateley Town Council is one of the few local councils to have been recognised under the national 'Quality Council' award scheme. In 2011 Hart district was named the UK's most desirable place to live, and Yateley was mentioned on a BBC News article as one of the towns within the district. Yateley School
Yateley School is the largest secondary school in North East Hampshire. The school teaches over 1500 students aged 11 – 16, and the attached sixth form college caters for ages 16–18. The school had its latest Ofsted Report in 2018, where the school achieved a good rating, and the Sixth Form College achieved an outstanding rating. Yateley School consists of four houses named after significant British people: (Charles) Darwin, (Emmeline) Pankhurst, (Florence) Nightingale and (William) Wilberforce. In the 2008 Ofsted report, it is noted that the Sixth Form made significant improvements after a new Director of Sixth Form was appointed (shortly before the 2008 Ofsted inspection). Frogmore Community College
Frogmore Community College is a state secondary school based in Yateley, Hampshire, England drawing attendees from Yateley, nearby Blackwater, Darby Green, Sandhurst and Eversley. History Formerly Frogmore Comprehensive School, then Frogmore Community School, it also used to include a Sixth Form College originally called the Blackwater Valley Centre (BVC) which was fully absorbed when the school took its present name at the end of the 1990s. The school re-branded the sixth form as "FCAS" (Frogmore Centre for Advanced Studies) in 2005, but disbanded after only two years, forcing a partnership with The Sixth Form College, Farnborough. North East Hampshire is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament by Ranil Jayawardena, a Conservative who has served as Environment Secretary since 2022. History The constituency was created in 1997 from parts of the seats of Aldershot and East Hampshire. It was represented at Westminster by James Arbuthnot until 2015 when he was succeeded by Ranil Jayawardena. Frogmore, Hampshire
Frogmore is a small suburban village in the northeast of the civil parish of Yateley in the county of Hampshire, England. The origin of the place-name is from the Old English words ''frogga'' and ''mere'', meaning "pool frequented by frogs". It adjoins Darby Green and lies between the towns of Yateley and Blackwater, and lies 32 miles (51 km) west-south-west of London. The county borders of both Berkshire (Bracknell Forest) and Surrey ( Surrey Heath) are approximately one mile away. The village, part of the Frogmore & Darby Green ward, is under the administrative jurisdiction of Yateley Town Council whilst neighbouring areas fall within the auspices of Blackwater and Hawley Town Council. Christopher Charles Benham (born 24 March 1983) is an English cricketer. Benham is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born at Frimley, Surrey. He attended Yateley School across the county border at Yateley in Hampshire. Sean Devereux
Sean Devereux (25 November 1964 – 2 January 1993) was a British Salesian missionary and aid worker murdered in Kismayo, Somalia in 1993 while working for UNICEF. He has since become an important role model for the aid-working vocation, particularly among Christians. Sean Devereux died at the age of 28. Daniel Michael King (born 5 March 1969) is a British writer. Early life Danny King was born in Slough, Buckinghamshire (now Berkshire), the second son of Michael and Dorothy King. He and his two brothers, Ralph and Robin, lived on the Britwell Estate until 1979, when they moved to Yateley, Hampshire. He attended Yateley School but failed to gain any qualifications before leaving at the age of 16. David Copeland
The 1999 London nail bombings were a series of bomb explosions in London, England. Over three successive weekends between 17 and 30 April 1999, homemade nail bombs were detonated respectively in Brixton in South London; at Brick Lane, Spitalfields, in the East End; and at The Admiral Duncan pub in Soho in the West End. Each bomb contained up to 1,500 nails, in holdalls that were left in public spaces. The bombs killed three people and injured 140 people, four of whom lost limbs. Darby Green
Darby Green is a village in the parish of Yateley, North East Hampshire, England. The electoral ward of Frogmore and Darby Green is separated from the rest of the parish by a small gap around Clarks Farm, until recently a composting farm in the mushroom producing industry. The ward has a boundary shared with Blackwater, which is one part of the Civil Parish of Hawley. Parson Darby was a local vicar and a highwayman; he was supposedly hung at the junction of the B3272 and Darby Green Road. Alexa Goddard (born 21 December 1990) is an English pop and R&B singer from Blackwater, Hampshire previously signed to Roc Nation. Born in Camberley, Surrey, Goddard was spotted singing at a talent contest at the age of 14. From 2007 she featured on three consecutive winter tours of the United States and Canada with American band Trans-Siberian Orchestra and performed a duet on "Child of the Night", a track from the band's 2009 album ''Night Castle''.
