Yarramundi Reach
Yarramundi Reach is a small peninsula on the western end of Lake Burley Griffin, in the Australian Capital Territory, close to Scrivener Dam. It is also the name for the area of water on Lake Burley Griffin between it and Weston Park, Canberra, Weston Park. The park on the peninsula has a picnic area and a public washroom, and access is provided off the nearby Tuggeranong Parkway. Lindsay Pryor National Arboretum is located on the peninsula as well. The peninsula is mainly grassland and woodland. In 1993 the Keating Government proposed Yarramundi Reach as the location for a National Museum of Australia. The new Liberal government in 1996 also said they would develop a museum at Yarramundi Reach; however, it was changed later in the year to Acton Peninsula, where the National Museum of Australia is now located. Lake Burley Griffin
Lake Burley Griffin is an artificial lake in the centre of Canberra, the capital of Australia. It was completed in 1963 after the Molonglo River, which ran between the city centre and Parliamentary Triangle, was dammed. It is named after Walter Burley Griffin, the American architect who won the competition to design the city of Canberra. Griffin designed the lake with many geometric motifs, so that the axes of his design lined up with natural geographical landmarks in the area. However, government authorities changed his original plans, and no substantial work was completed before he left Australia in 1920. Griffin's proposal was further delayed by the Great Depression and World War II, and it was not until the 1950s that planning resumed. Scrivener Dam
Scrivener Dam is a concrete gravity dam that impounds the Molonglo River in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The dam creates Lake Burley Griffin, which was established for recreational and ornamental purposes. Named in honour of surveyor Charles Scrivener, the dam was officially inaugurated on and the official filling of the lake commemorated on by the Prime Minister, Robert Menzies. Tuggeranong Parkway is an major highway in Canberra, Australia. Often referred to as "The Parkway" by locals, Tuggeranong Parkway links Civic to the southern Canberra metro district of Tuggeranong, and is a bypass road to the Woden Valley- Weston Creek district of Canberra. It also links to the Glenloch Interchange, where roads such as Caswell Drive connect to Belconnen. Lindsay Pryor National Arboretum
The Lindsay Pryor National Arboretum is an arboretum on the Yarramundi Reach peninsula in Canberra, the capital of Australia. It is named after Lindsay Pryor, a noted Australian botanist. The site is located at the western end of Lake Burley Griffin and is used for research and recreation. Trees of the arboretum were mostly planted 1954-1957 by Lindsay Pryor. Weston Park
Weston Park is a country house in Weston-under-Lizard, Staffordshire, England, set in more than of park landscaped by Capability Brown. The park is located north-west of Wolverhampton, and north-east of Telford, close to the border with Shropshire. The 17th-century Hall is a Grade I listed building and several other features of the estate, such as the Orangery and the Stable block, are separately listed as Grade II.
