Yaqui López
Álvaro López (born May 21, 1951, in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico) is a Mexican former boxer and current member of the Boxing Hall of Fame. A native of Zacatecas, Zacatecas, López was very popular among Mexicans and is considered by many as one of the greatest Light Heavyweights to never become world champion. Early life The story of López starts with his birth under a bull ring in the Plaza de Toros San Pedro in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico. He grew up underneath the seats in an adobe garage of a famous Bullring in Zacatecas. A Young López had dreams of becoming a Matador. However, when López was in his teens, in his very first bull fight, after about four or five passes, the bull drove his horn into his ankle which shattered it. Yaqui People
The Yaqui, Hiaki, or Yoeme, are a Native American people of the southwest, who speak a Uto-Aztecan language. Their homelands include the Río Yaqui valley in Sonora, Mexico, and the area below the Gila River in Arizona, Southwestern United States. They also have communities in Chihuahua and Durango, Mexico. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe, based in Tucson, Arizona, is the only federally recognized Yaqui tribe in the United States. Michael Spinks
Michael Spinks (born July 13, 1956) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1988. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed light heavyweight title from 1983 to 1985, and the lineal heavyweight title from 1985 to 1988. As an amateur he won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Jesse Burnett (born February 8, 1946) is an American former professional boxer. His professional record was 23-18-2 with 11 knockouts. He is best remembered as the spoiler who won a twelve-round decision in a WBC cruiserweight elimination bout over former world light-heavyweight champion Victor Galindez of Argentina in 1980, sending Galindez into retirement. In Burnett's two tries at a world title, he was stopped in the ninth round of a 1977 vacant WBC light-heavyweight title bout by Miguel Angel Cuello, and stopped in the eighth round of a 1983 WBC cruiserweight title bout against S.T. Tony Mundine (boxer)
Anthony William Mundine OAM (born 9 June 1951) is an Australian former boxer, and one of the country's most accomplished indigenous fighters. The only Australian boxer to compete professionally in four weight divisions, he held the Australian middleweight, light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight titles, as well as the Commonwealth middleweight and light heavyweight titles. He also challenged once for the WBA world middleweight title in 1974. He is the father of former world champion boxer Anthony Mundine, and cousin of Warren Mundine. Mike Quarry
Michael Wayne Quarry (March 4, 1951 – June 11, 2006) was an American light heavyweight boxer. He had a record of 63–13–6 including 17 knockouts during his career. Mike bested such fighters as Jimmy Dupree. Mike Quarry was born in Bakersfield, California. He began boxing at the age of 8 and obtained his license to fight as an amateur at 17. He tried to emulate his older brother Jerry Quarry, a renowned heavyweight fighter . "At one time Michael said, 'They might as well put on my epitaph: Here lies Jerry Quarry's little brother.'" Mike Rossman (born Michael Albert DePiano on July 1, 1955) is an American former professional boxer who was the WBA light heavyweight champion of the world. He is of both Italian and Jewish descent, which led to his monikers "The Kosher Butcher" and "The Jewish Bomber".
