Yanping District
Yanping District is a district of Nanping, Fujian province, People's Republic of China. The population of Yanping District was 504,483 at 2016. Etymology The name of the district literally means "Prolong Peace", and it is still commonly referred to as Nanping, which was its name before 1995. Nowadays, people still use both "Yanping" and "Nanping" in mailing address, and Nanping is even more common. History The city was built as a house at 196 BC. Before that it was a village governed by Houguan County (Fuzhou). Because it is the start point of Min River, it acts as a trading transferring center between North Fujian, Jiangxi and Fuzhou. Also, it is the last stronghold of Fuzhou, the largest city in Fujian, and usually carefully guarded. Intangible Cultural Heritage
An intangible cultural heritage (ICH) is a practice, representation, expression, knowledge, or skill considered by UNESCO to be part of a place's cultural heritage. Buildings, historic places, monuments, and artifacts are cultural property. Fujian is a provinces of China, province of China, with the vast majority administered by the China, People's Republic of China (PRC), and the offshore islands of Kinmen (Quemoy, Jinmen, etc.) and Matsu Islands, Matsu administered by the Taiwan, Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan. The PRC-administered Fujian Province is made up of three levels of administrative division: prefecture-level, county-level, and township-level. Laizhou railway station () is a railway station in Yanping District, Nanping, Fujian, China. It is currently used exclusively by freight trains, but previously it handled passengers. Fujian Medical University () is a university located in Fuzhou, Fujian, China. Fujian Medical University was founded in 1937, named Fujian Provincial Medical Vocational School at that time. The name of the school was changed to Fujian Provincial Medical College in 1939 and was called Fujian Medical College in 1949.
