The Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, or YCSG, is a research center at Yale University at New Haven, Connecticut. It was established in 2001 in order to "enrich the debate about globalization on campus and to promote the flow of ideas between Yale and the policy world". The current director is Ernesto Zedillo, president of Mexico from 1994 to 2000. Its current sponsors include William Henry Draper III, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Betts House (Yale University)
Betts House, also known as the John M. Davies House or Davies Mansion, is a mansion owned by Yale University in the Prospect Hill Historic District of New Haven, Connecticut. Completed in 1868 and designed by Henry Austin, it was sold to Yale in 1972 and is now home to the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization. When built, the square foot mansion was the largest single-family home in New Haven. In 1947, it was converted into the home of the new Culinary Institute of America, but fell into disuse for four decades after being acquired by Yale. Considering it the best example of Second French Empire Revival architecture in the city, preservationists and students stopped the university from demolishing it in the 1990s. Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León (; born 27 December 1951) is a Mexican economist and politician. He was 61st president of Mexico from 1 December 1994 to 30 November 2000, as the last of the uninterrupted 71-year line of Mexican presidents from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). William Henry Draper III (born January 1, 1928) is an American venture capitalist. Early life Draper was born on January 1, 1928, in White Plains, New York, the son of Katherine Louise (née Baum) and banker, general, and diplomat William Henry Draper Jr. who founded Draper, Gaither and Anderson and served as the first ambassador for NATO. The Prospect Hill Historic District is an irregularly-shaped historic district in New Haven, Connecticut. The district encompasses most of the residential portion of the Prospect Hill neighborhood. The district includes two U.S. National Historic Landmark properties which are separately listed on the National Register: the Othniel C.
