Yakiv Barabash
Yakiv Federovych Barabash ( uk, Яків Федорович Барабаш) died in September 1658) was a Zaporozhian Cossack Otaman (1657–58) who opposed Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. In 1657 he and Poltava polkovnyk Martyn Pushkar led a pro-Tsardom of Russia, Muscovy revolt against Vyhovsky, who was generally pro-Poland, Polish in his policies. The revolt ended in June 1658 near Poltava, when Vyhovsky and his cossacks defeated the rebellion. Barabash was later captured and executed. Yakiv Hodorozha
Yakov Godorozha ( uk, Яків Семенович Годорожа: ''Yakiv Semenovych Hodorozha''; born 18 May 1993) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Ukrainian national champion (2013, 2014). He began learning to skate under the guidance of Georgi Starkov at the Ldinka rink in Odessa, and later trained in Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv, where he was coached by Marina Amirkhanova. At the 2013 Nebelhorn Trophy, Godorozha earned a spot for Ukraine in the men's event at the 2014 Winter Olympics. He finished 20th in Sochi. He retired from competition in August 2014. Yakiv Yakovych Hordiyenko, also Yakov Yakovlevich Gordienko (alternatively Romanised as ''Gordi'yenko''; russian: link=no, Яков Яковлевич Гордиенко; April 26, 1925 – July 30, 1942) was a Soviet partisan from Ukraine. He was leading youth wing of Odessa resistance group led by Molodtsov-Badayev and operated in Odessa catacombs. Yakiv Hordiyenko was born into the family of a former sailor Yakiv Hordiyenko of the Imperial Russian battleship ''Sinop'' (scrapped by the Soviets in 1922). In 1941 he completed the ninth year of secondary school, then studied at the Navy specialized secondary school (Odessa). He was a member of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League. Yakiv Kripak ( ua, Яків Вікторович Кріпак; born 13 June 1978 in Zaporizhya, in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union - in present-day Ukraine) is a former Ukrainian football midfielder. Yakiv Kulik
Jakob Philipp Kulik (1793–1863) was an Austrian mathematician known for his construction of a massive factor tables. Biography Kulik was born in Lemberg, which was part of the Austrian empire, and is now Lviv located in Ukraine. Kulik's factor tables In 1825, Kulik mentioned a table of factors up to 30 million, but this table does no longer seem to exist. It is also not clear if it had really been completed. From about 1825 until 1863 Kulik produced a factor table of numbers up to 100330200 (except for numbers divisible by 2, 3, or 5). This table basically had the same format as the table to 30 million and it is therefore most likely that the work on the "Magnus canon divisorum" spanned from the mid-1820s to Kulik's death, at which time the tables were still unfinished. Yakiv Yukhymovych Lyzohub ( uk, Яків Юхимович Лизогуб; russian: Яков Ефимович Лизогуб, ''Yakov Yefimovich Lizogub'') was a military and political figure of the Cossack Hetmanate and a member of a well known Cossacks family of Lyzohub. He was born in a family of Chernihiv Colonel Yukhym Yakovych Lyzohub and Lyubov Petrivna Doroshenko. Yakiv Lyzohub was a grandson of Hetman Petro Doroshenko. He graduated from the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy that in the 19th century was transformed into the Kyiv Theological Academy on the order of the Russian Holy Synod. In 1713-28 Lyzohub was a Bunchuk General. In 1723-24 he along with Colonel Danylo Apostol and Yesavul General Vasyl Zhurakovsky was imprisoned by Peter the Great in the Peter and Paul Fortress as a members of Pavlo Polubotok's party. Yakov Grigrorievich Punkin (russian: Яков Григорьевич Пункин; 8 December 1921 – 12 October 1994) was a featherweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Ukraine. Competing for the Soviet Union he won a gold medal at the 1952 Olympics. He placed fifth at the 1953 World Championships. He became the first Olympic gold champion born on the territory of the modern Ukraine. Biography Punkin was Jewish. He took up wrestling in 1938, while working at a factory as a turner. Yakiv Vasilyovich Smolii ( uk, Яків Васильович Смолій, born 1 February 1961) is a Ukrainian economist and banker and former Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine. He was acting Governor of the National Bank from 11 May 2017 (when Valeriia Hontareva resigned) until the Ukrainian parliament elected him Governor on 15 March 2018. Yakiv Somko
Yakym Somko ( uk, Яким Сомко, pl, Jakim Somko) (? in Pereiaslav – September 28, 1664), was a Ukrainian Cossack military leader of the Pereyaslav regiment and was the Acting Hetman of Left-bank Ukraine in 1660-1663, during The Ruin. He was first appointed captain of the Pereiaslav regiment in 1654, and became the acting colonel in 1658. At the Pereiaslav Council of 1660 that concluded the Treaty of Slobodyshche he was elected colonel of Pereiaslav regiment and Acting Hetman of Left-Bank Ukraine. But he strongly opposed the treaty because it restored the union with Poland, and annulled the Pereiaslav articles, which he favored more of a pro-Russian orientation.
