Yuzhne
Pivdenne (, ), formerly known as Yuzhne (; from ), is a port city in Odesa Raion, Odesa Oblast (province) of south-western Ukraine. Pivdenne hosts the administration of Yuzhne urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. It is situated on the country's Black Sea coast. Population: Initially created as a settlement of the Odesa Portside Plant in the Small Adzhalyk Estuary, since 1981 it was transformed into a suburb of Odesa within the Suvorovsky District of the city. From the Southern Marine Terminal of the city port, the Odesa–Brody pipeline takes its beginning towards the Western Ukraine. Until 18 July 2020, Yuzhne was incorporated as a city of oblast significance. In July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Odesa Oblast to seven, the city of Yuzhne was merged into newly established Odesa Raion. Odesa Raion () or Odessa Raion () is a List of raions of Ukraine, raion (district) of Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It was created on 17 July 2020 as part of the reform of administrative divisions of Ukraine. Biliaivka Raion, Biliaivka Municipality, Biliaivka and Illichivsk Municipality, Illichivsk municipalities, parts of Lyman Raion, Odesa Oblast, Lyman and Ovidiopol Raion, Ovidiopol raions, as well as the cities of Odesa, Teplodar, and Pivdenne, Odesa Oblast, Yuzhne were merged into Odesa Raion. A city of regional significance () in Ukraine was a type of second-level Administrative divisions of Ukraine, administrative division or municipality, the other type being Raions of Ukraine, raions (districts). In the first-level division of Oblasts of Ukraine, oblasts, they were referred to as ''cities of oblast significance''; in the first-level autonomous republic of Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Crimea, they were ''cities of republican significance''. Western Ukraine
Western Ukraine or West Ukraine (, ) refers to the western territories of Ukraine. There is no universally accepted definition of the territory's boundaries, but the contemporary Ukrainian administrative regions ( oblasts) of Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil and Zakarpattia (which were part of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire) are typically included. Conurbation
A conurbation is a region consisting of a number of metropolises, cities, large towns, and other urban areas which, through population growth and physical expansion, have merged to form one continuous urban or industrially developed area. In most cases, a conurbation is a wikt:polycentric, polycentric urbanised area in which transportation has developed to link areas. They create a single urban labour economics, labour market or travel to work area. Conurbations often emerged in coal-mining regions during the period of the Industrial Revolution.
