Young Liars
''Young Liars'' is the first major release by the New York City band TV on the Radio. Released in 2003 on Touch & Go Records, the EP helped establish the band's distinctive blending of electronica, doo wop, post-rock, and avant-garde styles. The release featured the single "Staring at the Sun," which would later be remixed and reissued in their full-length album '' Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes''. TV on the Radio (TVOTR) is an American rock music, rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2001. The band consists of Tunde Adebimpe (vocals, loops), Dave Sitek (guitars, keyboards, loops), Kyp Malone (vocals, guitars, bass, loops), and Jaleel Bunton (drums, bass, vocals, loops, guitars). Doo Wop
Doo-wop (also spelled doowop and doo wop) is a subgenre of rhythm and blues music that originated in African-American communities during the 1940s, mainly in the large cities of the United States, including New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Baltimore, Newark, Detroit, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. It features vocal group harmony that carries an engaging melodic line to a simple beat with little or no instrumentation. Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV (born April 6, 1965), better known by the stage name Black Francis, is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter. "Staring at the Sun" is the debut single of American indie rock band TV on the Radio, released in 2004. The CD single is enhanced with two different quality QuickTime video files of the title track's music video. The single's B-sides, "Freeway" and "On a Train", were taken from their '' OK Calculator'' release. The song was listed at #41 on Pitchfork Media's "Top 500 songs of the 2000s". Band member Dave Sitek has said that the song was written over the course of two days. The song is recognizable by its heavy fuzz bass line, and rapidly strummed, distorted guitar single notes. ''Doolittle'' is the second studio album by the American alternative rock band Pixies (band), Pixies, released on April 17, 1989, on 4AD.
