Yishun Town Secondary School
Yishun Town Secondary School (YTSS) is a co-educational government autonomous secondary school in Yishun, Singapore. History The school was first established in 1986, originally sharing its premises with Yishun Secondary School and Yishun Junior College. In 1988, the school moved into a new S$8.1 million campus along Yishun Street 21. Relation with other schools Yishun Town Secondary School, Nan Chiau High School and Xinmin Secondary School had been holding combined sports meets annually since 2013 to give student athletes from the participating schools a platform to showcase their physical talent and also for the schools to unite to celebrate and enjoy. Apart from the inter-school competitions among students, parent-teacher races are also featured to engage the parents and school staff. This yearly event was stopped in 2017 due to unknown reasons. Yishun
Yishun, formerly known as Nee Soon, is a residential town located in the northeastern corner of the North Region of Singapore, bordering Simpang and Sembawang to the north, Mandai to the west, the Central Water Catchment to its southwest, Ang Mo Kio to its south, as well as Seletar and Sengkang to its east and southeast respectively. Etymology The name Yishun () is the Mandarin Chinese equivalent of "Nee Soon", the given name of Lim Nee Soon ( Chinese: ), a prominent industrialist who made his fortune from the rubber and pineapple plantations he had in the area. Hazlina Halim
Hazlina Abdul Halim (born on the 17 February 1985) is a Singaporean television presenter, editor, journalist, news reader, simultaneous interpreter and radio announcer. Hazlina is of mixed parentage and is effectively bilingual in English and Bahasa Melayu. She is also conversant in Mandarin. She often fronts live variety and current affairs programmes and telethons. Hazlina is also often sought after for private emceeing engagements and has attended various seminars/workshop as a guest speaker. A ria (; gl, ría) is a coastal inlet formed by the partial submergence of an unglaciated river valley. It is a drowned river valley that remains open to the sea. Definitions Typically rias have a dendritic, treelike outline although they can be straight and without significant branches. Suria (Malay for "Sun") is a Singaporean free-to-air Television channel owned by Mediacorp. The channel broadcasts popular Malay television series, either originally produced by Mediacorp or imported from Malaysia and Indonesia. Its logo is a tilted big letter S, with the word SURIA in capital letters and a thin curve below it; all in yellow. History Plans for a third television channel in Singapore were mooted as far back as January 13, 1972 when the Centre for Production and Training of Adult Education Television (CEPTA TV) suggested that the new channel was to be used to boost adult education. Kelly Poon
Kelly Poon (; born 11 July 1983) is a Singaporean singer who emerged from one of the Project SuperStar singing competition held in Singapore. Early life Kelly Poon graduated from Huamin Primary School and Yishun Town Secondary School. She later graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Maritime Transport Management in 2004. After graduation in 2004, she became an air stewardess with Singapore Airlines. Entertainment career (2005–present) Kelly Poon auditioned for Project SuperStar in April 2005 and was eliminated in the fourth quarter-final, but was back on stage following sufficient public votes in the revival round. She supposedly impressed both the critics and the judges with her on-stage personality and versatility, and then came in second in the Grand Finals of Project Superstar whilst securing a recording deal with Universal Music.
