''Ygg huur'' is the fifth studio album by the American black metal band Krallice. The album was recorded between July 4 and 8 at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves Studio and was self-released digitally by the band on July 30, 2015, with physical versions released in September. The album received widespread critical acclaim for its dense, complex songwriting and unique sound, featuring on a number of end-of-year lists by music publications. Musical style and writing Ygg huur has a highly technical, dense and complex style of metal, that has been described as "ranchingout kaleidoscopically, intricate riffs alternate frantically, from insanely fast tremolos to dissonant squeals, and rhythms float and bounce spastically without any anchors". Though it is rooted in black metal, some music critics have noted the influence of death metal on the album, and comparisons have been made to Gorguts, Deathspell Omega, and Altar of Plagues. Heathen Harvest was an Internet blog devoted to music criticism, music news, and interviews. It focused on underground and post-industrial music, including ambient, heavy metal, gothic, and industrial music. ''Krallice'' is the first album by the New York City, New York–based black metal band Krallice. It was released on compact disc on July 11, 2008 by the Canada-based Profound Lore Records, and on gramophone record, vinyl in March 2009 by the United States, American-based Gilead Media. The album was recorded before Nick McMaster had joined the band so he only appears as an additional vocalist on the recording and the bass guitar was played by both Marston and Barr. Recording Colin Marston recorded, mixed and mastered the album in his studio Menegroth, the Thousand Caves in Woodhaven, Queens. Though the band initially intended to use a lo-fi approach, the music was too dense to come out successfully. The album was recorded on 2" tape with multiple microphones and guitar layers.
