''Yas'' ( ), sometimes spelled ''yass'', is a playful or facetious slang term equivalent to the excited or celebratory use of the interjection yes. ''Yas'' was added to Oxford Dictionaries in 2017 and defined as a form of exclamation "expressing great pleasure or excitement". ''Yas'' was defined by Oxygen (TV channel), Oxygen's Scout Durwood as "a more emphatic 'yes' often paired with 'Queen (slang), queen. ''Yas'' can alternatively be spelled with any number of A's and S's in order to increase the grade of excitement or add more emphasis. In other words, the exclamation often appears in the form "Yas, queen!" and sometimes "yaasss!". It is associated with usage by people of the LGBTQ+ community to symbolize excitement or being happy. Yaser Bakhtiari (, born 1982 in Tālesh, Iran) better known by his stage name Yas (), is an Iranian rapper. He wears a Faravahar pendant, a symbol of Iranian nationalism and Zoroastrianism. On 21 December 2011 Yas was chosen by the voters as the Artist of the Week in MTV IGGY Entitled Tehran’s Hard-Hitting MC. Yas is one of the founders of Persian rap, and in 2013 he became the first Iranian rapper to be allowed by the Islamic Republic to legally perform in Iran. Yas Mall () is a mall in Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It serves as a place for shopping, dining and entertainment for residents of Abu Dhabi and Yas Island. Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas () was a relatively strong and very damaging tropical cyclone that made landfall in Odisha and brought significant impacts to West Bengal during late May 2021. Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa was the second Category 5 severe tropical cyclone in 2020 after Cyclone Harold, Harold in the 2019–20 South Pacific cyclone season.
