Yamaha XV1900A
The Yamaha XV1900A is a motorcycle manufactured by the Yamaha Motor Company and sold in the United States through Yamaha's Star Motorcycles division. It was the largest Yamaha motorcycle while in production. Development The Yamaha XV1900A cruiser was developed to exploit the large displacement end of the market for large Cruiser (motorcycle), cruisers. Yamaha had a well established range of big "Star" cruisers which went up to the Yamaha XV1600A, Wild Star 1600 cc but there was a need to redesign the engine to meet anticipated exhaust emissions regulations and the opportunity to update the styling, which had remained largely unchanged for a decade. Star Motorcycles was a U.S.-specific brand of Yamaha Motor Company used on Yamaha's cruiser motorcycles. History In 1994 Yamaha announced the creation of Star Motorcycles, a new standalone brand name for its cruiser series of motorcycles in the American market. Although a separate brand, Star motorcycles will continue to be sold at Yamaha dealerships. In other markets the same bikes will still be sold as Yamahas. Yamaha XV1600A
The Yamaha XV1600A is a cruiser-style motorcycle. It is also called the Yamaha Road Star or in Europe the Yamaha Wild Star. It was produced from 1999 through model year 2014 when the Roadstar model line was discontinued. The 1999-2003 models were the same 1602 cc naturally aspirated engines. In 2004 they changed the displacement to 1,670 cc. There were also a few design changes in 2004, including new tubeless aluminum wheels, a skinnier drive belt, and different engine casing color. The Road Star has a sleeker, sportier brother called the Yamaha Road Star Warrior that has a fuel-injected 1,700 cc engine and an all-aluminum chassis. Four-stroke Power Valve System
A four-stroke power valve is a device fitted to four-stroke engines that constantly adjusts the internal diameter of the exhaust system to better suit the speed of the engine. Yamaha was the first to develop such a system, called the Exhaust Ultimate Power Valve (EXUP). It first appeared on the Yamaha FZR EXUP and was later used on many other Yamahas.
