Wulipu
Wulipu () is a town in the northwest corner of Shayang County, Jingmen, Hubei Province, China. The name 'Wulipu' means 'a relay station for post horses five ''Li'' away from the city'. History In early 1928, elements from the Chinese Communist Party participated in a violent agrarian uprising that erupted in Wulipu's Jinjiahu (). In 2000, a cache of Chu (state) Warring States period funerary artifacts dating to 340-300 BC was unearthed in eastern Wulipu's Zuozhong village during the construction of the G55 Erenhot–Guangzhou Expressway, locally the Xiang(yang)- Jing(zhou) Highway (). In March 2001, Shayang County's Caochang Township () was disestablished. The former township became part of western Wulipu. Li (unit)
''Li'' (, ''lǐ'', or , ''shìlǐ''), also known as the Chinese mile, is a traditional Chinese unit of distance. The li has varied considerably over time but was usually about one third of an English mile and now has a standardized length of a half- kilometer (). This is then divided into 1,500 chi or "Chinese feet". The character 里 combines the characters for "field" ( 田, ''tián'') and "earth" ( 土, ''tǔ''), since it was considered to be about the length of a single village. As late as the 1940s, a "li" did not represent a fixed measure but could be longer or shorter depending on the ''effort'' required to cover the distance. The Erenhot–Guangzhou Expressway (), commonly referred to as the ''Erguang Expressway'' () is an expressway that connects the cities of Erenhot, Inner Mongolia, and Guangzhou, Guangdong. Jingzhou
Jingzhou () is a prefecture-level city in southern Hubei province, China, located on the banks of the Yangtze River. Its total residential population was 5,231,180 based on the 2020 census, 1,068,291 of whom resided in the built-up (''or metro'') area comprising two urban districts.
