Woden ISD
Woden Independent School District is a public school district based in the unincorporated community of Woden, Texas ( USA). A small portion of the district falls into the city of Nacogdoches. It also includes the community of Etoile. Woden ISD has three campuses all of which are at the same location: * Woden High School (Grades 9-12) *Woden Junior High School (Grades 6-8) *Woden Elementary School (Grades PK-5) Woden High School also serves students from the neighboring Etoile Independent School District. In March 2022 the two districts announced plans to consolidate, with Woden being the surviving district. The consolidation was effective July 1, 2022. Etoile School closed with all operations moved to Woden. The anticipated increase of students at the elementary level is 70-80, which would mean the elementary would have a 20% increase in the number of students. Woden, Texas
Woden is an unincorporated community in Nacogdoches County, Texas, United States. The area of Nacogdoches County was settled by immigrants from the Old South in the 1830s and was known as Jacobs, then later called King's Store. In 1886 a post office was established and the community was named Woden after the Old English deity Woden. In the 1890s, Woden residents moved the community to a location closer to a nearby railroad which had bypassed them, and named their new town Oval. In 1895 this town, at the current location, was then renamed Woden. The chief economic activity until the 1930s was logging, which later declined. Agriculture is now responsible for notable business in the region. Woden High School is a public high school located in Woden, Texas ( USA) and classified as a 2A school by the UIL. It is part of the Woden Independent School District located in south central Nacogdoches County. Etoile Independent School District
Etoile Independent School District was a public school district based in the community of Etoile, Texas (United States). Its territory was entirely in Nacogdoches County. Etoile ISD had one school that serves students in grades Kindergarten through eight. Students in grades nine through twelve attended Woden High School in the Woden Independent School District. In 2009, the school district was rated " academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. From the financial year of 2018 until 2022, the student count declined by 44%. The district also reported conflicting property value information affecting its operations, with contradictory information from the Texas State Comptroller's Office and Nacogdoches County Appraisal District. K31PR-D (channel 31) is a digital translator, also licensed to Tyler, in full simulcast with the primary KLTV digital feed.
