Window (album)
The Microphones are an American indie folk, indie rock, and experimental project from Olympia, Washington. The project was founded in 1996 and ended in 2003, with a short reunion following in 2007 and revivals in 2019 and 2020. Across every iteration of the Microphones, it has been fronted by Phil Elverum. Elverum is the principal songwriter and producer behind the band's albums, but he has also collaborated with other local musicians on his other recordings and tours. Many of Elverum's recordings from the project's initial period were released by the label K Records. Since 2003, Elverum has recorded and performed primarily under the name Mount Eerie. He played a one-off concert in Anacortes, WA under the name the Microphones in June 2019 and announced the release of a new Microphones album, '' Microphones in 2020'', in August 2020. Olympia, Washington
Olympia is the capital of the U.S. state of Washington and the county seat and largest city of Thurston County. Justyn Pogue
Justyn Pogue is an American artist and musician born in Olympia, Washington. He has contributed his musical and visual artistic talents to several releases by Phil Elvrum's band, The Microphones (now known as Phil Elverum aka Mount Eerie). Pogue writes music and sings with the Portland, Oregon, band Vacant Stares as of 2021. He is primarily credited for his artwork as J.pogue, and often as Justin Pogue. Among his artistic resume, Pogue's artwork is featured on Up Records catalog number 64 and the K Records K Records is an independent record label in Olympia, Washington founded in 1982. The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys are an American rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. ''It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water'', sometimes shortened to ''It Was Hot'', is the second studio album by American indie folk and indie rock band the Microphones. It was released by K Records on September 26, 2000. After Phil Elverum—the frontman, principal songwriter, and producer of the Microphones's albums—had gained a small following with 1999's '' Don't Wake Me Up'', he recorded ''It Was Hot'' in Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, Washington, between September 24, 1999, and March 6, 2000. The album was recorded on analogue tape; Elverum embraced the medium's technical imperfections. The album was described as indie rock, lo-fi, and indie pop and was inspired by Elverum's visits to the ocean. As a whole, the album centers on the theme of water, while its lyricism is heavily themed on nature. Old Time Relijun is a band founded in Olympia, Washington, United States and a longtime member of K Records. Current members consist of Germaine Baca on drums, Aaron Hartman on upright bass, Ben Hartman on saxophones, and Arrington de Dionyso on electric guitar, vocals and bass clarinet. Up Records
Up Records was a Seattle based independent record label founded in 1994 by Chris Takino and Rich Jensen. Some of the label's best known artists were 764-Hero, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Quasi and Tad. Chris Takino died of leukemia in 2000. The label was owned and managed by his partner Pete Ritchey until it was licensed to Sub Pop about 2018. The last update to the Up Records website was in 2007. Evergreen State College
The Evergreen State College is a public liberal arts college in Olympia, Washington. Founded in 1967, it offers a non-traditional undergraduate curriculum in which students have the option to design their own study towards a degree or follow a pre-determined path of study. The Business is an independent record store, music distribution company and concert venue located on Commercial Avenue in Anacortes, Skagit County, Washington, United States. It formerly also housed a book store, a photography studio, a café-bistro, a recording studio and a record label.
