William Jordan (actor)
William C. Jordan (born October 13, 1937) is an American film and television actor. He played Major Jake Gatlin in season one of the television series ''Project UFO'', among other roles in films and television series. Personal life Jordan was born in Milan, Indiana. As a high school student, under the name Bill Jordan, Jordan was a member of the famous 1954 Milan High School basketball team that won the 1954 Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) State Tournament. It was this 1954 Milan "Indians" basketball team on which the movie '' Hoosiers'' was loosely based. Jordan is a graduate of Indiana University. During his career as an actor, Jordan rented an upscale apartment in Hollywood, while owning a large home in Arrowhead, California. Milan, Indiana
Milan ( ) is a town in Franklin and Washington townships, Ripley County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,899 at the 2010 census. Milan High School won the Indiana state basketball championship against Muncie Central High School in 1954, the victory being significant as Milan was one of the smallest towns to win a state championship in the United States at that time. The 1986 film '' Hoosiers'' is based on the story of the 1954 Milan Team. While it is often claimed that Milan is the subject of a volume of poetry entitled ''Pop. 359'' written in 1941 by Carl Wilson under the pseudonym of Tramp Starr, that book is actually about the nearby town of Moores Hill. ''Mannix'' is an American detective television series that ran from 1967 to 1975 on CBS. It was created by Richard Levinson and William Link, and developed by executive producer Bruce Geller. The title character, Joe Mannix, is a private investigator played by actor Mike Connors. Premise During the first season of the series, Joe Mannix works for a large Los Angeles detective agency called Intertect, which was the planned original title of the show. His superior is Lew Wickersham, played by Joseph Campanella. Intertect uses computers to help solve crimes. As opposed to the other employees, Mannix belonged to the classic American detective archetype, thus he usually ignores the computers' solutions, disobeys his boss's orders, and sets out to do things his own way.
