Whitfield Connor
Whitfield Connor (December 3, 1916 – July 16, 1988) was an American actor, director and producer. Career Connor started in radio in the 1930s. In 1945 he made his Broadway debut as Horatio in a production of Hamlet and by 1948 had won his first theatrical award, a Theatre World Award for his portrayal of Macduff in Macbeth starring Michael Redgrave. In 1960 Connor appeared on Broadway playing the father of Jane Fonda's character in ''There Was a Little Girl''. He stepped into the play almost at the last minute when Louis Jean Heydt collapsed and died in the wings during the Boston run. The next morning he was asked to take over the role and he studied the part on the plane from New York to Boston. Rathdowney
Rathdowney or Rathdowny () is a town in southwest County Laois, Ireland. It lies some 32 km southwest of Portlaoise in the Irish Midlands, at the point where the R433 regional road from Abbeyleix to Templemore is crossed by the R435 from Borris-in-Ossory to Johnstown. The R433 provides access for Rathdowney to the Dublin-Cork M8 motorway, while the R435 links the town to the Dublin-Limerick M7. As of the 2016 census, the population of Rathdowney was 1,271. ''BUtterfield 8'' is a 1960 American drama film directed by Daniel Mann, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Laurence Harvey. Taylor won her first Academy Award for her performance in a leading role. The film was based on a 1935 novel of the same name by John O'Hara. Plot Gloria Wandrous wakes up in the apartment of wealthy executive Weston Liggett, and finds that he has left her $250. ''The Big Story'' is an American radio and television crime drama which dramatized the true stories of real-life newspaper reporters. The only continuing character was the narrator, Bob Sloane. Radio Sponsored by Pall Mall cigarettes, the program began on NBC Radio on April 2, 1947. With Lucky Strike cigarettes sponsoring the last two seasons, it was broadcast until March 23, 1955. The radio series was top rated, rivaling Bing Crosby's '' Philco Radio Time''. Produced by Barnard J. Prockter, the shows were scripted by Gail Ingram, Arnold Pearl and Max Ehrlich. ''Front Row Center'' is an American variety show that aired on the DuMont Television Network Sundays at 7pm ET from March 25, 1949, to April 2, 1950. The show was originally 30 minutes then expanded to 60 minutes. This was one of several DuMont network programs to start as a local show on one of its affiliates. The premiere episode featured Marilyn Maxwell in her TV debut. On April 9, 1950, DuMont replaced this show with ''Starlit Time'' in the same time slot. A filmed half-hour series, episodes were approximately 25 minutes long, excluding commercials.
