The Whitby Warriors are a Junior "A" box lacrosse team from Whitby, Ontario, Canada. The Warriors play in the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. History The Whitby Jr Lacrosse Franchise began in 1969 as the Whitby B & R Transporters. The Transporters won the Castrol Cup in 1970 as Canadian Jr B Champions. The Castrol Cup gave way to the Founders Cup in 1972. Whitby B & R Transporters won their 2nd Canadian Jr B Championship Founders Cup in 1974. In 1975, Whitby Warriors came into the OLA Jr A League. Zack Greer
Zack Greer (born February 12, 1986 in Whitby, Ontario) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs of the National Lacrosse League. Greer attended high school at All Saints Catholic Secondary School in Whitby, and grew up playing box lacrosse. Greer's brother, Bill, plays for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. Greer's cousin Shawn Thornton played in the National Hockey League for 14 seasons from 2002-2017. Jason Crosbie
Jason Crosbie (born June 25, 1975 in Bowmanville, Ontario) is a Canadian former lacrosse player who is currently an assistant coach in the National Lacrosse League for the New York Riptide. NLL Crosbie began his career in 2001 with the Rochester Knighthawks, then played with the Montreal Express in 2002 (where he holds the franchise record for penalty minutes - the team's only year in existence). In 2003, he was picked up by the Buffalo Bandits, where he played for three seasons before joining the Arizona Sting in 2006. Toronto Rock
The Toronto Rock are a professional box lacrosse franchise based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team was the first Canadian franchise in the NLL. Oakville resident Jamie Dawick is the current owner of the Rock, purchasing the team after the 2009 season. Since 2014, Dawick has also served as their general manager. The Rock play their home games at FirstOntario Centre which they currently share with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL. The franchise was founded in 1998 as the Ontario Raiders in Hamilton. The Raiders played at Copps Coliseum before being sold to a group of investors led by then Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant GM Bill Watters, who relocated the franchise to Toronto. Mark Matthews (born January 27, 1990) is a professional lacrosse player for the Saskatchewan Rush in the National Lacrosse League. Canadian Lacrosse Association career Matthews played for the OLA Jr A Whitby Warriors for three years, winning a Minto Cup in 2011. In 2010 he played for the Coquitlam Adanacs, where he won his first Minto Cup. Matthews currently plays for the Peterborough Lakers in the Major Series Lacrosse league. The Colorado Mammoth are a box lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League. The Mammoth have played at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, since the 2003 season. They are owned by Stan Kroenke, who is also the owner of the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Rapids of MLS. Gavin Prout (born March 13, 1978 in Whitby, Ontario) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Colorado Mammoth in the National Lacrosse League, and formerly of the Hamilton Nationals in Major League Lacrosse. He was also a member of the Team Canada squad that won the gold medal during the 2006 World Lacrosse Championship. The Brooklin Lacrosse Club is a box lacrosse team from Brooklin, Ontario. Brooklin plays in the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) league (formerly known as Senior "A"). The MSL, and its counterpart, the Western Lacrosse Association, represent the highest level of competitive box lacrosse in Canada. The Edmonton Rush were a professional lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) that played from 2006 NLL season to 2015. The team announced on July 20, 2015, that they would be relocating to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for the 2016 season. The Saskatchewan Rush play in the SaskTel Centre. History The NLL announced that Edmonton, Alberta would receive an NLL franchise on May 5, 2005. They played their home games at Rexall Place.
