Welcome Home (1925 Film)
''Welcome Home'' is a 1925 American silent film, silent comedy-drama film directed by James Cruze and starring Lois Wilson (actress), Lois Wilson and Warner Baxter. It was produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film is based on the 1924 Broadway play ''Minick'' by Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Old Man Prouty goes to live with his son. There he becomes a general annoyance, prying into things unwittingly and spoiling plans for everyone. He finds other cronies at the Old Men's Home and, after learning that his son is to choose between him and the young wife, he goes to live at the Home. James Cruze
James Cruze (born James Cruze Bosen; March 27, 1884 – August 3, 1942) was a silent film actor and film director. Early years Cruze's middle name came from the battle of Vera Cruz. He was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but did not practice the religion after his teenage years. Very little is certain about his childhood and teen years because he told a different story at every interview he granted. Career Cruze acted in, directed and or produced over 100 films mainly during the silent film era. His first known acting job was at Lubin Manufacturing Company in 1910. He started at Thanhouser Company in 1911 with ''She'' (1911) which is where the majority of his body of work was produced, much of it as the leading man. After leaving Thanhouser in 1916, he worked for several other companies as director and producer, primarily for Paramount Pictures, from 1918 to 1938. Margaret Morris (November 7, 1898 – June 7, 1968) was an American film actress of the silent film era and into the 1930s. Early years Morris, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was the great-niece to former US President Benjamin Harrison. She became interested in acting by her late teens, and moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. Career Morris performed in the ''Ziegfeld Follies'' in 1912, 1913, and 1920, with the 1912 appearance being her Broadway debut.
