We Are Lady Parts
''We Are Lady Parts'' is a British television sitcom created, written, and directed by Nida Manzoor. The series follows an eponymous British punk rock band that consists entirely of Muslim women. After airing as a pilot on 21 December 2018 on Channel 4, it was commissioned for a six-episode series; which premiered 20 May 2021. The show has been nominated for awards including two prizes at the Gotham Awards and a Rose d'Or award. In November 2021, creator Nida Manzoor received the Rose D'Or Emerging Talent Award for her work on the show. Premise An all-female Muslim punk band in the UK takes inspiration from London's rich and diverse collection of cultures. Friendships, relationships and cultural differences are navigated as the band seeks musical success. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Critics disagree over the utility of the term "sitcom" in classifying shows that have come into existence since the turn of the century. Anjana Vasan
Anjana Vasan (born 31 January 1987) is a Singaporean actress and singer-songwriter based in London. She gained prominence through her stage work, receiving an ''Evening Standard'' Theatre Award nomination for her performance in the 2019 production of ''A Doll's House''. As of 2021, she stars in the Channel 4 sitcom ''We Are Lady Parts''. Early and personal life Vasan was born in Chennai in India to a Tamil family and moved to Singapore when she was four. Stan (service)
Stan (stylized as Stan.) is an Australian over-the-top streaming service. It was launched on 26 January 2015. Stan originally was founded as StreamCo Media, a 50/50 joint venture between Nine Entertainment Co. and Fairfax Media. In August 2014, each company invested A$50 million in StreamCo. StreamCo was renamed Stan Entertainment in December 2014, prior to the January 2015 launch of the streaming service. Nine Entertainment would ultimately acquire Fairfax Media in 2018, making Stan a wholly owned subsidiary of Nine Digital. All 4 is a video on demand service from the Channel Four Television Corporation, free of charge for most content and funded by advertising. The service is available in the UK and Ireland; viewers are not required to have a TV licence—required for live viewing and the BBC iPlayer on-demand service—when watching on-demand services. The service launched on 16 November 2006 as 4oD (for "4 on Demand"). The service offers a variety of programmes recently shown on Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4 and E4 Extra and shorts.
