''Warialda Standard'' was a newspaper produced at Warialda, New South Wales. It covered news in the towns of Warialda, Bingara, Coolatai, Croppa Creek, North Star, Yetman, and Delungra. It merged with The Bingara Advocate to become Gwydir News in 2018. History The ''Warialda Standard'' has been in publication since 1894 and is also known as ''The'' ''Warialda Standard and Northern Districts' Advertiser''. In 1900, Robert Buist from the Warialda Standard was on the Committee of the New South Wales Country Press Association (NSWCPA). The ''Warialda Standard'' joined the NSWCPA in 1989. The current editor of the publication is Laura Carroll. Warialda is a town in the North West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia, in Gwydir Shire. Situated on the banks of Warialda Creek, the town's name means "Place of Wild Honey" in local aboriginal language. At the , Warialda had a population of 1,120. Transport The Gwydir Highway runs through town and, along with Stephen Street, is considered one of the town's two main streets. Warialda is serviced by daily NSW TrainLink coach services (excluding Tuesdays) to Inverell and Tamworth, connecting with train services to Sydney. Additionally, there are three weekly coach services each to Grafton (connecting with XPT train services to and from Brisbane) and Moree on alternating days (excluding Sundays). Bingara, New South Wales
Bingara (Aboriginal for 'creek') is a small town on the Gwydir River in Murchison County in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. Bingara is currently the administrative centre for the Gwydir Shire that was created in 2003. The Gwydir River being a main highlight of the town is a main catchment of the Murray-Darling System. Location Bingara is located 141 km north of Tamworth, 54 km west of Inverell, 449 km north of Sydney and 358 km south west of Brisbane. Bingara is located very close to Myall Creek, the site of the massacre of 27 to 30 Indigenous Australians. History In 1827 Allan Cunningham crossed the Gwydir River near Bingara. At the time he mistook the river to be the Peel River, but realised his mistake on his return journey. The discovery of gold in 1852 brought prospectors to the area. Yetman is a hamlet in the New England region of northern New South Wales, Australia. At the , Yetman and the surrounding area had a population of 178. It is located on the Macintyre River about south of the Queensland border and north of Sydney. It is located at the intersection of the roads south to Tamworth, east to Tenterfield and north-west to Boggabilla. History The area was once occupied by the Bigambul, a sub-group of the Murri Aboriginal people who used to fish along the Macintyre River. Yetman Station was established in 1837 by the Dights, who followed Allan Cunningham's trail to the north. Delungra is a small town on the Gwydir Highway, from Inverell and from Bingara in Inverell Shire, New South Wales, Australia. At the , Delungra and the surrounding area had a population of 647. The urban centre had a population of 285. Delungra was incorporated as a town in 1907 and celebrated the centenary of the town combined with Australia Day celebrations in 2007. An earlier ''Reedy Creek'' Post Office was renamed ''Delungra'' on 11 June 1906. in 2015, Delungra was named Australia's lowest-earning postcode by the Australian Taxation Office, with a mean taxable income of just $21,691.
