Ware, Hertfordshire
Ware is a town in Hertfordshire, England close to the county town of Hertford. It is also a civil parishes in England, civil parish in East Hertfordshire district. Location The town lies on the north–south A10 road (Great Britain), A10 road which is partly shared with the east–west A414 road, A414 (for Hertford to the west and Harlow to the east). There is a large Kingsmead Viaduct, viaduct over the River Lee (England), River Lea at Kings Meads. The £3.6m two-mile bypass opened on 17 January 1979. At the north end of the bypass is the Wodson Park Sports and Leisure Centre and Hanbury Manor, a hotel and country club. The former route of the A10 through the town is now the A1170. Fabian Ware
Major-General Sir Fabian Arthur Goulstone Ware (17 June 186928 April 1949) was a British educator, journalist, and the founder of the Imperial War Graves Commission (IWGC), now the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). He also served as Director of Education for the Transvaal Colony and editor of ''The Morning Post''. Born in Clifton, Bristol, he graduated from the University of Paris in 1894. After working in various education capacities, he travelled to the Transvaal Colony where, as a member of Milner's Kindergarten, he became Director of Education in 1903. Two years later, Ware became editor of ''The Morning Post'' and returned to England. While editor, he expanded the paper and reoriented it to focus on colonial affairs. After several controversies, culminating in a failed effort to purchase an airship for the United Kingdom, Ware was forced to retire in 1911. John Ware (physician)
John Ware (19 December 1795, Hingham, Massachusetts – 29 April 1864, Boston, Massachusetts) was an American physician and fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Biography John Ware graduated from Harvard College in 1813. He then began the study of medicine at Harvard Medical School, where he graduated with M.D. in 1816. Immediately upon graduation, he began to practice medicine in Duxbury, but in 1817 he moved to Boston, where he resided until his death in 1864. In 1832 he was appointed Professor in the Theory and Practice of Medicine in Harvard College's Medical Department and held the professorship until 1858. His predecessor in the professorship was James Jackson. In 1828 Ware was one of the editors of the '' New England Journal of Medicine''. John Ware (cowboy)
John Ware ( – 11 September 1905) was a Canadian cowboy who was influential in the early years of the burgeoning ranching industry in Southern Alberta. Remembered for his excellent horsemanship, he was among the first ranchers in Alberta, arriving in 1882 on a cattle drive from the United States and settling to ranch until his death in 1905. Biography Ware was born into slavery, and there is no record of his birth. The historian J. W. Grant MacEwan claimed he was born on a plantation near Georgetown, South Carolina. However, on his marriage certificate, Ware himself was stated to be born in Tennessee. After the American Civil War, he left for Texas, where he learned the skills of a rancher and became a cowboy. Ware then worked his way north to Canada driving cattle from Texas to Montana. Joe Ware
Joseph Fulton "Bald Knob" Ware (December 22, 1880 – August 5, 1969) was professor of Military Science and Tactics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute from 1911 to 1914. During the years of World War I, Ware served in Europe, Alaska, and the Philippines. He served in three divisions, two corps, and two armies. He participated in several influential battles during the war, including the Argonne Offensive and the Battle of St. Mihiel. Ware is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. His son was Joseph F. Isaac Ware
Isaac Ware (1704—1766) was an English architect and translator of Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. Early life Ware was born to a life of poverty, living as a street urchin and working as a chimney sweep, until he was adopted by Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington at the age of eight (in about 1712) after which he was groomed and educated as a young nobleman. Reportedly he was drawing on the pavement of Whitehall whereupon Burlington, recognising the talent, intelligence and personality, took him into his own household. His subsequent education included a Grand Tour of Europe and the study of architecture. (On his deathbed the ingrained soot of the chimney-sweep was still detectable.)
