Wales At Six
ITV News'' Wales at Six'' is the evening news programme broadcast and produced by ITV Cymru Wales. Overview ''Wales at Six'' and all other ITV Wales news programming is broadcast live from studios at Assembly Square in Cardiff Bay, with a North Wales newsroom based in Colwyn Bay, and a political unit at the National Assembly of Wales in Cardiff Bay. District reporters are also based in West Wales, Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea. Jonathan Hill was promoted from news reporter and newsreader to a main anchor for the main evening news programme during February 1994. Andrea Byrne was appointed co-anchor on 14 January 2008 following the departure of Lucy Owen to rival programme ''BBC Wales Today''. Hill and Byrne anchor alternating editions of the main 6pm programme as of June 2014. Kylie Pentelow took over from Byrne on 4 February 2019 for one-year. Andrea Byrne
Andrea Byrne (née Benfield; born 1978) is an English journalist and presenter, currently working for ITV Cymru Wales, where she presents ''Wales at Six'' and ''Wales This Week''. Personal life Born in Guildford, Surrey, Byrne graduated from Southampton University with a degree in English literature, before gaining a postgraduate diploma in journalism at Highbury College, Portsmouth. Latterly, she has gained a political diploma through the Open University. Byrne married Wales rugby player Lee Byrne on 1 January 2012. Byrne took a year-long sabbatical in June 2013, before returning to ITV Cymru Wales to anchor the relaunched ''Wales at Six''. Career Byrne started her journalism and media career as a local radio reporter for Guildford-based County Sound Radio. Merthyr Tydfil
Merthyr Tydfil (; cy, Merthyr Tudful ) is the main town in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, Wales, administered by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. It is about north of Cardiff. ''Scotland Today'' is a Scottish regional news programme covering Central Scotland, produced by STV Central (formerly Scottish Television). Despite its name suggesting a national remit, the programme was actually limited to stories around STV's Central Belt franchise. '' North Tonight'' covered STV's North Scotland region (from North Fife upwards), until both programmes were renamed ''STV News at Six'' in March 2009. Culverhouse Cross
Culverhouse Cross ( cy, Croes Cwrlwys) is a district straddling the boundary between Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, in the community of Wenvoe. The district is centred on a major traffic roundabout that links West Cardiff to the M4 motorway and is home to a number of different retail outlets, and formerly ITV Wales's headquarters. History According to place-name etymologist Deric Meidrum John, there has been a crossroads at Culverhouse Cross for some centuries, originally at the intersection of the Cardiff to Cowbridge turnpike and the road between the parishes of St Fagans and Wenvoe. Kylie Ann Pentelow (born 29 June 1979) is an English journalist and television news presenter. She is a presenter of ''ITV News West Country'' and the ''ITV Weekend News''. Education and career Pentelow was educated at the Sir Christopher Hatton School in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. After graduating from the University of Sheffield with an MA in journalism, her first post was as a reporter for the ''Bath Chronicle''. She then joined '' BBC Points West'' as a video journalist, and after joining the BBC graduate training scheme undertook postings in BBC local radio in Oxford and Birmingham, before moving back to television with the BBC News Channel.
