WYMY ("La Ley 101.1" FM) is a Regional Mexican radio station in Burlington, North Carolina, United States. It serves the Triad and Triangle areas, which includes cities such as Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Raleigh and Durham. In addition the signal goes well north of Danville, Virginia. The outlet, which is owned by Curtis Media Group, claims to have the largest FM radio signal in all of North Carolina, operating with an ERP of 100 kW. The reason for that FM radio signal claim comes from Curtis Media, due to the population covered by the station's signal. The transmitter is located on Bass Mountain in the Cane Creek Mountains in Alamance County, and studios are in Burlington. WWPL
WWPL (96.9 FM, "Pulse FM") is a contemporary hits radio station licensed to Goldsboro, North Carolina, which is east of the Raleigh-Durham Triangle. The station is owned by Curtis Media Group. Its studios are located in Raleigh, and the transmitter tower is near Princeton, North Carolina. History Originally WGBR-FM at 99.7 FM and then 93.3 FM, this Goldsboro station for most of its early history originally simulcast its AM counterpart. It switched its call letters to WEQR in 1950. Licensed to Burlington-Graham, North Carolina, the station covers the Greensboro metropolitan area It is owned by Alamance Media Partners. History Burlington and Alamance County's first radio station signed on the air on September 15, 1941 as WBBB. WBBB had its studios above Lamb's Clothing on South Main Street as a daytime-only station with 1,000 watts of power. Cane Creek Mountains is a small mountain range that lies south of Burlington, North Carolina. The range covers an area including Alamance County, Guilford County, Randolph County, and Chatham County in North Carolina. Formation The mountains are typical of the rolling terrain of the piedmont region of North Carolina, and are somewhat similar in formation to the nearby Caraway Mountains and Uwharrie Mountains.
