WWE Payback
WWE Payback was a professional wrestling event produced by WWE, a Connecticut-based professional wrestling promotion. It was broadcast live and available only through pay-per-view (PPV) and the WWE Network. The concept of the event was the wrestlers seeking payback against their opponents. The event was established in 2013 and replaced No Way Out in the mid-June slot of WWE's pay-per-view calendar. It continued to be held annually until 2017; in 2015, the event moved up to the May slot, and was then moved to late-April in 2017. To coincide with the WWE brand extension that was reintroduced in 2016, the 2017 event was held exclusively for wrestlers from the Raw brand. Payback was then dropped from WWE's PPV calendar for 2018 as following WrestleMania 34 that year, WWE discontinued brand-exclusive PPVs, resulting in the reduction of PPVs produced yearly. Payback (2016)
The 2016 Payback was the fourth annual Payback professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE. It took place on May 1, 2016, at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois and was the third Payback held at this venue after the 2013 and 2014 events. The event is considered by WWE to be the first PPV event of The New Era and was the last Payback event to be held before the reintroduction of the brand extension in July. The theme of the event was wrestlers seeking payback against their opponents. Eight matches were contested at the event, with two being held on the Kickoff pre-show. In the main event, Roman Reigns defeated AJ Styles to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Raw is a brand of the American professional wrestling promotion WWE that was established on March 25, 2002. Brands are divisions of WWE's roster where wrestlers are assigned to perform on a weekly basis when a brand extension is in effect. Wrestlers assigned to Raw primarily appear on the brand's weekly television program, ''Monday Night Raw'', also referred to simply as ''Raw''. The 2015 Payback was the third annual Payback professional wrestling pay-per-view and livestreaming event produced by WWE. It took place on May 17, 2015, at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland and was the first Payback held outside of the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois. The theme of the event was wrestlers seeking payback against their opponents. Nine matches were contested at the event, with two matches on the Kickoff pre-show. In the main event, Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Randy Orton in a fatal four-way match to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The WWE Championship is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE, representing the Raw brand division. Ryback Allen Reeves (né Ryan; born November 10, 1981) is an American professional wrestler. He is best known for his time in WWE where he performed under the ring name Ryback.
