WPST-TV was a television station that broadcast on channel 10 in Miami, Florida, United States, from 1957 to 1961. Owned by Public Service Television, Inc., the broadcasting subsidiary of Miami-based National Airlines (NAL), and managed by NAL founder/CEO George T. Baker, it was launched as the third commercially licensed very high frequency (VHF) station in Miami and the market's second American Broadcasting Company (ABC) affiliate after WITV (channel 17). It is perhaps best known as the first television station in the United States to have its broadcast license revoked by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Nassau Broadcasting Partners LP was a company based in Princeton, New Jersey that owned radio stations in New England and the Mid-Atlantic United States. Nassau's stations, which included both AM and FM frequencies, were located in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The company was owned and headed by Louis F. Mercatanti. Nassau was predominantly an operator of radio stations in medium and small markets. Nassau formerly owned radio station WCRB in Waltham, a Boston suburb, and located in the Boston market, the 11th largest radio market in the US, according to BIA Financial Network. WCHR (1040 AM) is a religious radio station in Flemington, New Jersey serving Trenton, New Jersey which is owned and operated by Townsquare Media. History Originally the station operated as WJHR ("Jersey Hometown Radio") with an adult contemporary format. It briefly broadcast a talk format called "Chat Radio" and had short stints as a business talk station and an ESPN Radio affiliate before adopting the call letters and religious format of WCHR, which had been operating on 920 AM in Trenton, in 2002. On January 3, 2008, Nassau Broadcasting Partners announced that 1040 would drop the religious format and switch to a full-time simulcast of New York City's WEPN. WNJE (920 AM) is a sports talk radio station in Trenton, New Jersey. The station is owned by Townsquare Media. History This station first operated as WTTM in 1942. It was affiliated with NBC in its early years, eventually shifting to the Mutual Broadcasting System. The station carried varied programming for many years, typically airing general popular music during weekday daytime hours, with Top 40 or rhythm and blues on weeknights and blocks of ethnic programming on weekends. The basic format changed to Top 40 in the late 1970s, followed by country for much of the 1980s and talk in the 1990s.
