Worcester Sixth Form College
Worcester Sixth Form College is a 16-19 Academy in Worcester, England. It is located in the south-east of the city and was founded on the site of the former Worcester Grammar School for Girls following reorganisation in 1983. The College joined the Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust in 2019. Admissions The College currently has approximately 1750 students enrolled. The majority of students are full-time and are enrolled on A Level, Applied or T Level courses. Thirty-four A Level subjects are presently offered along with Applied programmes in Business, Criminology, Engineering, Health and Social Care, Law, IT, and Sport & Exercise Science. In January 2023, an Ofsted inspection confirmed that the College continues to be a Good provider. Chelsea Weston
Chelsea Elisabeth Weston (born 27 January 1990) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Pink Bari in the Italian Serie A. She has represented England up to Under-23 level. Club career Weston, of Warndon, began playing football for a local boys team, the Droitwich Kestrels and remained with them until reaching the maximum age for mixed football teams. Her struggle to find a team to play for saw her featured on BBC Midlands Today where she was spotted by Birmingham City Ladies. Royal Radar Establishment
The Royal Radar Establishment was a research centre in Malvern, Worcestershire in the United Kingdom. It was formed in 1953 as the Radar Research Establishment by the merger of the Air Ministry's Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) and the British Army's Radar Research and Development Establishment (RRDE). It was given its new name after a visit by Queen Elizabeth II in 1957. Both names were abbreviated to RRE. In 1976 the Signals Research and Development Establishment (SRDE), involved in communications research, joined the RRE to form the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment (RSRE). The two groups had been closely associated since before the opening of World War II, when the predecessor to RRDE was formed as a small group within the Air Ministry's research centre in Bawdsey Manor in Suffolk. A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat-panel display or other Electro-optic modulator, electronically modulated optical device that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals combined with polarizers to display information. Cyril Hilsum
Cyril Hilsum (born 17 May 1925) is a British physicist and academic. Hilsum was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 1983 for the inventiveness and leadership in introducing III- V semiconductors into electronic technology. Life Hilsum entered Raine's Foundation School in 1936 as the middle of three brothers, leaving in 1943 after being accepted into University College London, where he did his BSc. In 1945, he joined the Royal Naval Scientific Service, moving in 1947 to the Admiralty Research Laboratory. In 1950, he transferred again to the Services Electronics Research Laboratory (SERL) where he remained until 1964 before again moving, this time to the Royal Radar Establishment. Felicia Nicolette Gavron (''née'' Coates, 24 November 1941 – 30 August 2024) was a British politician who was deputy mayor of London under Ken Livingstone from 2000 to 2003 and 2004 to 2008. She was a member of the London Assembly from 2000 to 2021 and was the former Labour candidate for the 2004 London mayoral election. Early life and education Gavron was born in Worcester on 24 November 1941, the daughter of a German Jew who had fled from Nazi Germany in 1936. In March 2008, she claimed that her mother had been chosen to dance before Hitler in the opening ceremony of the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, until the authorities discovered that she was Jewish.
