Whitten, Iowa
Whitten is a city in Hardin County, Iowa, United States. The population was 100 at the time of the 2020 census. History C.C. Whitten, an official for the Northwestern Railway System, platted the town in 1880. Whitten was incorporated in 1882 with a population of 350. By 1914, Whitten was proud of its church membership of 170, its schools, three general stores, a blacksmith shop, restaurant, bank, produce house, implement store, and two doctors. In fact, Whitten was never without a doctor until 1973 when Dr. George Blaha died after serving the community for 60 years. In the early 20th century, the city experienced several devastating fires which destroyed much of the town. The city rebuilt very little. The Whitten Renagades semi-pro baseball team, managed by James Speas, played for over 2 decades with their final season in 1996. Hope Bay (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Bahía Esperanza'') () is a bay long and wide, indenting the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula and opening on Antarctic Sound. Location Hope Bay is in Graham Land on the north coast of the Trinity Peninsula, which forms the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. The Jamie Whitten Lock and Dam (formerly named Bay Springs Lock and Dam) is part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway (popularly called the Tenn-Tom). Whitten Oval (also known as Mission Whitten Oval under a naming rights agreement) is a stadium in the inner-western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in Barkly Street, Footscray. It is the training and administrative headquarters of the Western Bulldogs (formerly the Footscray Football Club), which competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The ground is also the home of the club's women's and reserves teams which compete in the AFL Women's (AFLW), Victorian Football League (VFL), and VFL Women's (VFLW). The Whitten effect is stimulation, by male pheromones, of synchronous estrus in a female population. Social signals, or social stimuli, have an effect on reproduction in all mammals.
