Wang Meng (author)
Wang Meng (; born 15 October 1934) is a Chinese writer who served as China's Minister of Culture from 1986 to 1989. Biography Wang was born in Beijing in 1934. During his middle school years, he was introduced to the Chinese Communist Party ideology and joined the Communist Youth League. Wang Meng has published over 60 books since 1955, including six novels, ten short-story collections, as well as other works of poetry, prose and critical essays. In 1956 Wang published a controversial piece, "The Young Newcomer in the Organizational Department" (). This caused a great uproar. He served as China's Minister of Culture from July 1986 to September 1989. On 27 June 2015 at the United International College's 7th Graduation Ceremony in Zhuhai, Wang Meng was rewarded with the Honorary Fellowships. The minister of culture and tourism of the People's Republic of China is the head of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and a member of the State Council. Within the State Council, the position is twenty-first in order of precedence. The minister is responsible for leading the ministry, presiding over its meetings, and signing important documents related to the ministry. Officially, the minister is nominated by the premier of the State Council, who is then approved by the National People's Congress or its Standing Committee and appointed by the president. Liu Xinwu
Liu Xinwu (; born June 1942) is a Chinese author, and one of the earliest proponents of the post-Maoism, Maoist wave of Chinese literature. Biography Born in the province of Sichuan, his family moved to Beijing, a city that figures prominently in his work, in 1950. Liu spent most of his life in Beijing, except for a brief period during the Cultural Revolution, when he was sent to work in rural China. His short story, "Class counsellor" (also translated as "The Class Teacher"; ) published in 1977 in literature, 1977 was one of the earliest examples of prose condemning the excesses of the Chinese government during the Cultural Revolution. His work has sometimes been referred to as scar literature, though this assessment is disputed. Liu filled editorial positions in a number of prominent government-sponsored publications throughout most of the 1980s. (26December 18939September 1976) was a Chinese politician, revolutionary, and political theorist who founded the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949 and led the country from Proclamation of the People's Republic of China, its establishment until Death and state funeral of Mao Zedong, his death in 1976.
