WSTB
WSTB (88.9 FM) is a non-commercial educational radio station licensed to Streetsboro, Ohio, carrying an alternative rock format known as "88.9 The Alternation". Owned by the Streetsboro City School District, the station serves the Akron metro area. WSTB's studios are located at Streetsboro High School in Streetsboro, while the station transmitter is in nearby Kent on the campus of Kent State University. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WSTB is available online. History WSTB first began broadcasting in March 1972 at 91.5 FM. On July 11, 1995, the station began broadcasting at 88.9 FM. Current programming WSTB airs alternative rock music throughout most of the week. The sole exception is Sunday, when the station airs a day-long block of oldies music; the station itself is effectively re-branded "The Sunday Oldies Jukebox". Streetsboro High School
Streetsboro High School is a public high school in Streetsboro, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Streetsboro City School District and had an enrollment of 577 students in the 2015–16 school year. The school was first established in 1902, but closed in 1950; it was re-established in 1962. The current facility was completed in December 2016 and opened for classes in January 2017. Streetsboro is a city in western Portage County, Ohio, United States. The population was 17,260 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area. The city was formed from the former Streetsboro Township of the Connecticut Western Reserve. History Long before settlers moved into the Connecticut Western Reserve, Seneca Indians traversed the area now called Streetsboro. Analog transmission is a transmission method of conveying information using a continuous signal which varies in amplitude, phase, or some other property in proportion to that information.
