WDMJ (1320 AM broadcasting, AM) is an oldies radio station licensed to Marquette, Michigan, with a power output of 5,000 watts during the day and 140 watts at night, covering much of Marquette County, Michigan. The station is owned by Armada Media Corporation, through licensee AMC Partners Escanaba, LLC, doing business as the ''Radio Results Network'' and broadcasts from studios on Ridge Street in West Marquette. History WDMJ has been broadcasting for nearly 100 years. It is the oldest radio station in Marquette County, Michigan and is the second oldest in the Upper Peninsula, only behind WCCY in Houghton, Michigan, Houghton. First known as WBEO, AM 1320 began broadcasting on July 2, 1931, later changing it's call sign to WDMJ on November 15, 1939, with DMJ standing for the ''The Mining Journal, Daily Mining Journal'', Marquette's daily newspaper. ''The Mining Journal'' is the predominant daily newspaper of Marquette, Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Like most market-dominant daily papers, the ''Journal'' is a six-day paper. ''The Mining Journal'' is distributed over a wide area, in part because Marquette is the largest city for a considerable radius in any direction. The ''Journal'' can be found in 14 of the 15 Upper Peninsula counties on weekends; distribution on other days is limited because of budget reductions. ''The Mining Journal'' either maintains bureaus in many of the cities of the U.P., or shares news coverage with other Ogden-owned papers. In August 2019, the ''Journal'' announced that they would be discontinuing the Sunday print edition and become a six-day-per-week newspaper. WLUC-TV (channel 6) is a television station licensed to Marquette, Michigan, United States, serving the Central and Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan as an affiliate of NBC and Fox. Owned by Gray Media, the station has studios on US 41/ M-28 in Negaunee Township, and its transmitter is located on South Helen Lake Road in Republic Township southeast of unincorporated Republic.
