WZRM (97.7 FM, "Rumba 97.7") is a Spanish-language radio station in the Boston market, carrying a Spanish contemporary hits format. Owned and operated by iHeartMedia, it serves the Metro Boston and South Shore areas of Massachusetts, and is licensed to Brockton. The station's studios are located in Medford and the transmitter site is atop Great Blue Hill. History WBET-FM and WCAV WZRM first went on the air in 1948 as WBET-FM, the sister station of WBET (990 AM, now WBMS 1460) in Brockton (WBET would subsequently buy WBKA 1450 and WBKA-FM 107.1, shut down the WBKA stations, and move its AM facility from 990 to 1460). Owned by iHeartMedia, the WXKS-FM studios are in Medford and the station transmits from atop the Prudential Tower in Downtown Boston. WBMS (1460 AM) is a radio station licensed to Brockton, Massachusetts. The station is owned by Beatrice Innocent Cesar through licensee Fraternity Broadcasting Group, LLC. The station also broadcasts through FM translator station W266DA (101.1). History As WBET WBMS signed on as WBET on November 27, 1946. The station was owned by The Brockton Publishing Company, with studios on 60 Main Street in Brockton, inside the headquarters of '' The Enterprise'' newspaper. The original frequency was 990 kHz, daytime only, but by 1952 would move to its current 1460 kHz frequency due to the owners of WBET buying the two other Brockton stations, WBKA (1450 AM) and WBKA-FM (107.1). Great Blue Hill
Great Blue Hill is a hill of 635 feet (194 m) located within the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, Randolph and Canton, Massachusetts, about south of downtown Boston. It is the highest point in Norfolk County and the Greater Boston area. The modern name for the hill was given by early English colonists who, while sailing along the coastline, noticed the bluish hue of the exposed granite faces when viewed from a distance (due to Riebeckite).
