__NOTOC__ Vivonne Bay is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the south coast of Kangaroo Island. It is located about southwest of the state capital of Adelaide city centre, Adelaide and about southwest of the municipal town of Kingscote, South Australia, Kingscote. Human settlement started in what is now the locality as the town of Vivonne which was surveyed during August 1908, named after the adjoining bay and proclaimed as a government town by Day Bosanquet, Governor Bosanquet on 19 May 1909. The locality's boundaries were created in May 2002 which includes both the former government town of Vivonne and the Harriet River Shack Site, was given the “long established name” which is also derived from the adjoining bay. Admiral Sir Day Hort Bosanquet, (22 March 1843 – 28 June 1923) was a British politician and senior officer in the Royal Navy. Mawson is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. Kevin Owen Foley (born 25 September 1960) is a former South Australian politician who served as 11th Deputy Premier of South Australia and additionally Treasurer of South Australia in the Rann Government from 2002 to 2011 for the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party. The 201920 Australian bushfire season (Black Summer), was a period of bushfires in many parts of Australia, which, due to its unusual intensity, size, duration, and uncontrollable dimension, is considered a megafire. The 2007 Kangaroo Island bushfires were a series of bushfires caused by lightning strikes on 6 December 2007 on Kangaroo Island, South Australia, resulting in the destruction of of national park and wilderness protection area. Vivonne Bay Conservation Park
Vivonne Bay Conservation Park, formerly the Vivonne Bay National Park, is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located on the south coast of Kangaroo Island in the gazetted locality of Vivonne Bay. It was dedicated in 1971 to conserve coastal country containing vegetation not already protected in Kelly Hill Conservation Park. Description The conservation park has an area of , stretching from Point Ellen, at the western end of Vivonne Bay, south-westwards along the coast for about , extending inland for . The vegetation is mainly open scrub and open heath dominated by ''Eucalyptus diversifolia'' and '' E. rugosa'', with low '' Calocephalus brownii'' shrubland on the coastal dunes and cliffs. Kangaroo Island SeaLink
Kangaroo Island SeaLink is a South Australian ferry company and tour operator owned by Kelsian Group, which has plied the crossing from mainland South Australia to Kangaroo Island since 1989. From 1989 to 1994, Kangaroo Island Sealink was owned by the Malaysian company MBF. In 1994 the company was sold to a consortium of staff members and Kangaroo Island residents. SeaLink's two currently operating ferries, '' Sealion 2000'' and '' Spirit of Kangaroo Island'', cross Backstairs Passage from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw in about 45 minutes, up to 10 times daily.
