Vijayakanth
Narayanan Vijayaraj Alagarswami (born 25 August 1952), better known by his stage name Vijayakanth, is an Indian politician and former actor who has worked predominantly in Tamil cinema. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Before entering politics Vijayakanth was a successful actor, producer and director. Vijayakanth is also the current DMDK chairman of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. He is the founder and president, general secretary of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) Political party and served as a Member of Legislative Assembly twice representing the constituency of Virudhachalam and Rishivandiyam respectively. ''Sattam Oru Iruttarai'' () is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language vigilante action film written and directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar, from a story by his wife Shoba. Captain Prabhakaran
''Captain Prabhakaran'' is a 1991 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by R. K. Selvamani. It stars Vijayakanth in the lead role. It also features Mansoor Ali Khan, Rupini, Livingston and Ramya Krishnan, while R. Sarathkumar appears in a cameo role. It was Vijayakanth's 100th film, after which he earned the sobriquet "captain". The character of the antagonist Veerabhadran, played by Mansoor Ali Khan, is loosely based on the forest brigand Veerappan. The title of the film was inspired from Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Upon its release, the film became a blockbuster at the box office. The Nadigar Sangam ( en, Actors' association), officially known as the South Indian Artistes' Association (SIAA), is a union for film, television, and stage actors in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, based in Chennai. Formed in 1952, the group has a charitable trust fund to provide pensions to retired actors, voice support for actors caught in controversy, and have collectively protested socio-political issues. Shanmuga Pandian (born 6 April 1993) is an Indian actor who has worked in Tamil language, Tamil language films. He is the son of Tamil actor and politician Vijayakanth. Career Shanmuga Pandian made his debut as a leading actor in ''Sagaptham'' (2015), co-starring Neha Hinge and Shubra Aiyappa, but the film was heavily panned by critics and failed at the box office. Pandian moved on to work on ''Thamizhan Endru Sol'', again co-starring his father Vijayakanth in a pivotal role, but his father's ill health meant that the project was postponed. Thus ''Madura Veeran'' (2018), based on the issues and politics associated with jallikattu, became his second release and won critical acclaim.
