Victoria Vistas
The Victoria Vistas were a professional soccer team based in Victoria, British Columbia that competed in the original Canadian Soccer League. The Vistas joined the CSL for the 1989 season and folded after the 1990 season. Victoria All-star teams had been competitive with league champion Vancouver 86ers teams in pre-season contests during previous years. History The Vistas joined the Canadian Soccer League as an expansion team for the 1989 season, forming a natural rivalry with the Vancouver 86ers. The Vistas were coached by Brian Hughes (until August 1) and former Canadian national team captain Bruce Wilson, with Buzz Parsons serving as general manager. The Vistas struggled in their inaugural season, winning only 4 of their 26 matches, finishing last in their division. Royal Athletic Park
Royal Athletic Park is a stadium in Victoria, British Columbia and is used for baseball, soccer, softball and football, but also hosts special events, such as the annual Great Canadian Beer Festival and previously the Rifflandia Music Festival. The 1989 Canadian Soccer League season was the third season of play for the Canadian Soccer League, a Division 1 men's soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid. George Pakos
George "Teddy" Pakos (born August 14, 1952 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a former Canada men's national soccer team, Canadian international soccer player. His goals were crucial in Canada qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, FIFA World Cup finals in 1986 FIFA World Cup, 1986. David McGill (soccer)
David McGill (born 28 May 1960) is a Canadian former professional soccer player who played in the North American Soccer League between 1979 and 1981 for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Detroit Express and Washington Diplomats. Gerry McCabe
Gerry McCabe (born 26 September 1956, in Hamilton) is a Scottish football player and coach. Playing career McCabe had a lengthy playing career that lasted almost two decades. He made over 200 league appearances for a Clydebank side that steamrollered through the divisions to the Scottish Premier Division. In 1977, he played abroad in the National Soccer League with Windsor Stars, and the following season with Toronto Italia. In 1990, he played with the Victoria Vistas. Simon Keith
Simon Sean Keith (born 25 May 1965) is a British/Canadian soccer player. He is the first athlete to have played professional sports after having undergone a heart transplant. To raise awareness for organ donation, he founded the Simon Keith Foundation in 2011. Early life and education Simon Keith was born on 25 May 1965, to David Keith, and Sylvia. Rick Iversen is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in the American Professional Soccer League and USISL. Youth In 1987, Iversen, in his only season with the San Diego State University men’s soccer team, went to the final of the 1987 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. He then transferred to California State University, Northridge. In December 1988, Iversen scored the game-winning goal to put CSUN into the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship final where they fell to Florida Tech. Ernest Inneh
Ernest Inneh (born September 25, 1970 in Nigeria) is a retired Nigerian-American soccer player. He is now a coach at the Metropolitan Oval Development Academy. He scored the only goal in the final of the 1991 U.S. Open Cup. Playing career Inneh, a native of Nigeria, attended Brooklyn College where he played on the men's soccer team from 1988 to 1991. In addition to playing collegiate soccer, Inneh also played for the Victoria Vistas of the Canadian Soccer League and the Brooklyn Italians in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. Richard John Hughes (born July 3, 1965) is a former professional soccer player. Born in Swansea, Wales, he moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1971. He played for Cadboro Bay, which later became Bays United Soccer Club. He attended Mount Douglas Secondary School, where he played on a soccer team with Jeff Mallett and Simon Keith. Ian Christopher Bridge (born 18 September 1959) is a football coach and former professional who played as a defender. A former player for the Canada national team, he has coached the Canada women's national team among other teams. Club career Bridge was born in Victoria, British Columbia. Robert "Bob" Bolitho (born July 20, 1952, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) is a former Canadian national team, North American Soccer League and Canadian Soccer League player. He is of Cornish descent. Club career Bolitho played as a teenager of Pacific Coast Soccer League side Victoria O'Keefe S.C. before joining the soccer team of the London Boxing Club in Victoria, for whom he won a Canadian Club Championship national title in 1975.
