Volvo S60
The Volvo S60 is a compact executive car manufactured and marketed by Volvo since 2000. The first generation (2000–2009) was launched in autumn of 2000 in order to replace the S70 and was based on the P2 platform, and the similarly designed estate version, the Volvo V70. A high-performance engine and sports-oriented suspension version called S60 R was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. Styling cues were taken from the ECC concept car and the S80. The second generation (2010–2018) was released in 2010 for the 2011 model year and has its own estate version, known as the Volvo V60. The third generation joined the Volvo line-up in 2018 for the 2019 model year. It is built on a shortened version of the Scalable Product Architecture platform, in America's first Volvo factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina. Volvo Car Gent (until 2007 known as Volvo Cars Europe Industry N.V.) is an Automotive industry, automobile manufacturer located in the Port of Ghent, port district of Ghent/Gent in western Belgium. By about 2013 the Ghent plant had become the Volvo plant manufacturing most cars. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish automaker Volvo Cars, Volvo Personvagnar AB (Volvo Cars). It is owned by Volvo Car Belgium NV. Its activities comprise welding, painting and final assembly. The Volvo V60 is a compact executive station wagon (estate car) produced by Volvo Cars related to the S60 mid-size sedan. The vehicle was first released in autumn 2010, facelifted in 2014, and is in its second generation since 2018. The second generation V60 was launched in 2018 based on the Volvo Scalable Product Architecture platform. Volvo Scalable Product Architecture Platform
The Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform is a global, full-size, unibody automobile platform developed Volvo Cars, and applied by multiple brands of its parent company Geely, which has been produced over three generations. It debuted in 2014 when the second-generation Volvo XC90 was released. Work on the new in-house platform began in 2011 shortly after Volvo was acquired by Geely from Ford Motor Company. During development, particular emphasis was placed on achieving weight-reduction, design commonality, manufacturing rationalization, and hybridization opportunities.
