Volcano
A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface. On Earth, volcanoes are most often found where tectonic plates are diverging or converging, and most are found underwater. For example, a mid-ocean ridge, such as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, has volcanoes caused by divergent tectonic plates whereas the Pacific Ring of Fire has volcanoes caused by convergent tectonic plates. Volcanoes can also form where there is stretching and thinning of the crust's plates, such as in the East African Rift and the Wells Gray-Clearwater volcanic field and Rio Grande rift in North America. Volcanism away from plate boundaries has been postulated to arise from upwelling diapirs from the core–mantle boundary, deep in the Earth. Pia Mechler
Pia Mechler (born 19 February 1983) is a German actress, director and author. Mechler studied acting at the European Film College in Denmark. She graduated in 2005 with a diploma. After graduating Mechler moved to Berlin. There she also worked with the drama teacher Kristiane Kupfer and attended workshops in voice training. She was part of the Portuguese electro pop band MAU and was signed with Universal Portugal. They released their debut album "Man And Unable". Mechler starred from 2004 initially in several short films. As of 2005 she appeared in English and German television and film productions. In 2008 played in the two-part film adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Discworld. 2009 in the RTL disaster movie '. In 2010 she starred in the Student-Oscar nominated movie '' The Night Father Christmas Died''. She is also the creator, director and star of the web series ''Almost Settled''. "Volcano" is a song performed by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was written by Jimmy Buffett, Keith Sykes, and Harry Dailey and released as a single (b/w "Stranded on a Sandbar") on MCA 41161 in November 1979. The song was first released on his 1979 album ''Volcano'' and reached No. 66 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, as well as peaking at No. 43 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart. Reception Trouser Press, which gave the eponymous album by Eyes Adrift a favorable review, said that ''Volcano'' was even better. They noted the "simple rough-in-the-studio mix", the reggae feel of Poutney's basslines, and the "high lonesome" feeling conjured by Kirkwood's "unfettered vocals". ''Volcano'' is the ninth studio album by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and is his 11th overall. It was released on August 1, 1979 as his first album for MCA after its absorption of ABC Dunhill. The album and its title song are named for the then dormant Soufrière Hills volcano on the island of Montserrat in the British West Indies where Buffett recorded the album in May 1979 at AIR Studios. (The studio was severely damaged by Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and Soufrière Hills erupted again in 1995.) Volcano (supergroup)
Volcano was a supergroup band, formed by Meat Puppets frontman Curt Kirkwood, Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh, Sublime soundman Michael 'Miguel' Happoldt, and bass player of The Ziggens Jon Poutney after the breakup of Eyes Adrift. They released one self-titled studio album in 2004. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kirkwood said: "The producer says it sounds a lot like Eighties, SST-era, '' Up On the Sun'' Meat Puppets. But there's more bouncy rhythms -- we do a lot more stuff that was inspired by The Selecter, The Specials, and Bob Marley."
